Before GPS, interstates, and rest stops, there was Highway 20! Designated as a federal highway in 1926, Highway 20 connected communities across northern Illinois and helped shape the diners, hotels, landmarks, and roadside businesses along the way. Our newest Gift Shop book, “Along Illinois’s Historic Highway 20” by Michael J. Till, tells that story through more than 200 vintage postcards. A perfect book for history buffs and postcard aficionados – stop by the Museum and pick up your copy today!

Happy ! This week, we’re highlighting an influential DuPage County resident: Regina Brent. She is a longtime civil rights leader and community activist whose work has helped advance dialogue, representation, and social justice throughout the County.
Brent founded Unity Partnership, an organization dedicated to bridging the gap between law enforcement and civilians while promoting civil rights and relationship-building across diverse cultural and religious communities. Her many years of advocacy have also included serving as the first African American candidate for the 5th District of the DuPage County Board, authoring the first African American Resolution/Proclamation established in the County, co-chairing the MLK Unity Project.
Through her advocacy and community involvement, Brent continues to promote representation, understanding, and unity throughout DuPage County.

The DuPage County Historical Museum would like to remind you that September is Underground Railroad Month. Both Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass escaped from slavery during the month of September, so this month is dedicated to commemorate the hardships faced by those escaping slavery and honor the work of abolitionists across America.
