Montgomery Planning has received a $100,000 state grant to develop a Streetscape Improvement Plan for the Damascus Main Street corridor, focused on improving sidewalks, landscaping, lighting and the pedestrian and bicycling experience to help revitalize the downtown core. 🐝 🍦 🚜

Thank you to State Senators Katie Fry Hester, Maryland Senate D9, Senator Craig Zucker and Councilmember Dawn Luedtke for your support in securing this investment for our Damascus residents.

The plan will be prepared in conjunction with our work on the upcoming Damascus Main Street Sector Plan Amendment, which is scheduled to kick off this fall.

The Montgomery County Planning Board unanimously appointed Shawn Bartley as Vice Chair today. Bartley, a Planning Board member since 2023, will serve a one-year term in this role and assumes Board leadership responsibilities in the Chair’s absence.
