Wyandanch Wheatley Heights Ambulance Explorer Post 1289 The WWHAC Explorers are junior members of the corp. Explorers range in age from fourteen to twenty-one years of age.

Upon reaching their eighteenth birthday, an explorer can choose to become a senior member of the corp, if he or she so chooses. All members of the post receive training on basic life skills for emergency rescue. After an explorer becomes proficient in their skills sets, they are encourage to go out on calls and assist senior members. Explorers meet on every Thursday of the month from 6 PM - 9 PM at the WWHAC Ambulance Corp at 275 Merritt Avenue in Wyandanch.

North Babylon Union Free School District High School student Tiana Fortilus was a member of the inaugural class of “100 High School Students America Needs to Know About™.”

She is a volunteer Explorer at the Wyandanch Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corp. Tiana is a first responder and rides along on emergency calls to assists patients in crisis.

She is certified in First Aid, CPR and is a Red Cross Certified WSI swim instructor.

Tiana is very clear in her goal to go to college and graduate with a degree in nutrition. After college, she plans to open a fitness center.

Applications are now open for 2020. Nominate high school students who are doing extraordinary things like Tiana.
