The city has heard from many residents regarding the closure of the pedestrian bridge near Twilight Drive and Oak Street. Rocky Mountain Water Company has provided the following statement with additional information about the closure and the ongoing collaborative efforts to determine a path forward.

Learning More About Wheat Ridge’s November Ballot Question

Thank you to everyone who joined City Manager Patrick Goff, Police Chief Murtha, and Parks and Recreation Director Karen O'Donnell for an informational presentation about Wheat Ridge’s November ballot question.

The presentation covered the proposed one-cent sales and use tax increase, the community priorities and planning that helped shape the measure, and the potential investments the funding could support, including:

• Street and infrastructure maintenance
• Bicycle and pedestrian safety
• Preservation of community spaces
• Replacement of Anderson Outdoor Pool
• Modern police and city services facilities

Attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the proposal ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

Wheat Ridge’s proposed one-cent sales tax measure will appear on the November ballot.

Denver7 recently spoke with Mayor Korey Stites and a local business owner about the ballot measure, which would provide dedicated funding for:

• Proactive street and infrastructure maintenance;
• Bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements;
• Preservation of community spaces at Wilmore Davis and Kullerstrand elementary schools;
• Replacement of Anderson Park Outdoor Pool; and
• Modern police and city services facilities.

Voters will have the final say this November.

Traffic Alert: August 31, 2026

Two new 20-foot-tall monuments are going up along the Wadsworth corridor on Monday, Aug. 31.

Crews will begin hoisting the monuments into place at approximately 5 a.m., starting near 40th Avenue before moving to the I-70 off-ramp. Work is expected to be complete by midday.

Significant traffic impacts are not anticipated, but the installation may attract some attention from drivers. If you’re traveling through the area Monday morning, please stay focused on the road and use caution around crews.
