The Wharton County Sheriff's Office has received several reports of individuals contacting family members of inmates waiting to make bond. The scammers are telling the family member that they are from the Sheriff's Office and that they must send money via cash app to pay for the bond and an ankle monitor. The Wharton County Sheriff's Office will never call you and request you to send money for a bond or any other jail related fees. Charges that require cash bonds are required to be paid in person at the Jail. Bond fees are paid to Local Bonding Companies that you or your family member has contacted and ankle monitors are placed on individuals by probation or parole. Any fees associated with those would be done in person.
