The East Bernard Branch Library has been busy preparing for the 2026 Summer Reading Program by hosting library tours for Pre‑K through 4th grade students. During their visit, Mrs. Sandra, the branch’s Children’s Librarian, talked all about the exciting activities planned for this summer and how everyone can Unearth a Story.

Students also learned how to check out books, explore the shelves, and even how to get their very own library card. Their enthusiasm made the library come alive, and we can’t wait to welcome them back once the summer reading fun begins.

Summer is almost here — and we’re ready to read.

Look who’s come to sign up for the summer reading program! These pet dinosaurs have come to the El Campo Branch Library with their owners to sign up for the Unearth a Story reading program for children this summer. Once done, they went searching for great reads! While the aisles at the library are ADA accessible(Americans with Disabilities) – they are not ADA accessible (American Dinosaur Accessible)😊With visions of great prizes dancing in their heads, the dinosaurs were eager to “transport” their children to find great fun and adventure!

Sign up starts Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at all 4 branches of the Wharton County Library System!

Wharton Main Library is hosting its monthly Senior Wellness Hour on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., and this month we’re focusing on an important community resource: the STEAR Program.

Christy Gonzalez from Wharton EMS will be here to explain how the State of Texas’ STEAR registry helps emergency planners and responders understand who may need extra assistance during an emergency event. The program supports people with disabilities, individuals who are medically fragile, and community members with access or functional needs, including those with limited mobility, communication barriers, or who require medical, transportation, or personal care assistance.

During the Senior Wellness Hour, we will set aside time to help participants register for the STEAR program, and lunch will be provided. To save your seat, call 979‑532‑8080.

We look forward to supporting our community and helping everyone stay prepared.

Wharton Main Library’s Children’s Librarian Jessica and Reference Librarian Yvonne visited Wharton Elementary School earlier this month to share all the exciting things coming up for our Summer Reading Program. They talked about the fun activities, special events, and all the ways families can Unearth a Story this summer at the library.

A huge thank‑you to for welcoming us. We can’t wait to see children and adults enjoying a fantastic reading program at any of our branches in Wharton, El Campo, East Bernard, or Louise.
