Mayor Montalvo also recieved a Presidential Appointment to the Selective Service Board by former President George W. Domingo Montalvo, Jr. graduated from Wharton High School in 1979 and attended two years at Wharton County Junior College before gradu

ating from the Houston Fire Academy in 1984. He then pursued a career as a firefighter in 1984 with the Houston Fire Department (HFD) and is on the HFD Hazardous Materials Team. Montalvo belongs to several organizations and has special interests, which include the Houston Professional Firefighter Association Local 341, Wharton Lions Club, Wharton Knights of Columbus, and on the Wharton County Junior College Advisory Board for Fire Degree Program. He also services as the Chairman of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish Council and serves on the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo International Committee. He has also served as the Wharton Little League Manager and Board Member and past Girl Softball Coach. He was also one of the original founders of the Independance Day Celebration, which is now named the Wharton County Fest and is a Fiesta Hispano Americano Lifetime Member.e
Mr. Montalvo is the first hispanic to be elected as a City of Wharton Councilmember At-Large and as Mayor.

Many Emergency Responders in Wharton County will be conducting a mass casualty incident drill this morning. This drill, being conducted with Gulf Coast Medical Center, local EMS, Fire, Police and Emergency Management personnel, will be testing our response to a bus accident with a large number of injuries. THIS IS A DRILL and will simulate radio traffic.
