Our Rehabilitation and Auxiliary is a new opportunity added into our organization providing on-scene support. This includes providing water, gatorade and other essentials not only to firefighters but also victims that may become impacted during an emergency

Chamber of commerce parking should be utilized for citizens in need of ADA or handicap assistance. Or Rath Plumbing(GREEN BOX)

Designated parking is also available at Guffey park.

Wharton Fire Department will provide street crossing for those parked across Richmond road. Citizens will cross in front of the chamber. We ensure safety for those attending.

We ask the public comes out and support the local fire department and observe how your tax dollar is invested into public safety. This is great opportunity to learn more about us and meet new administration and staff or maybe consider starting your journey as a firefighter or rehabilitation specialist

Did You Know?

The Wharton Vol Fire Department has a Scholarship fund in the memory of Fire Chief Jim Wendel. This Scholarship has been revitalized and drafted by the members of Wharton Fire department in 2025. This scholarship supports Wharton fire department member’s children and grandchildren academia journey.

Everett “Jim” Wendel
Began his journey with the department in 1972. He served as the Fire Chief from 1988 to 1995. As a public servant Jim took up his noble calling to give selfless service to his community and was known for his major contributions to this fire department and the community.

The Jim Wendel Memorial Scholarship is driven to support members children and grandchildren to chase their academia dreams and aspirations.

As this scholarship is in his early revitalization stages. We are in the works of developing community participation in supporting this scholarship fund and further impacting the youth of Wharton county! Please stay tuned!
