Memorial Sunday is a ceremony to honor the Servicemembers Lost at Sea. This ceremony has been a long tradition in Weymouth, which happens on the Sunday before Memorial Weekend. The Weymouth Veterans Service Office, The Weymouth Veterans Council and The George Bean American Legion Post 79 Rifle Team have been hosting this ceremony. The ceremony has been supported by the Weymouth Police Marine Unit, the Weymouth Emergency Management and Wessagussett Yacht Club.
The ceremony has two parts: first part is on the Weymouth Police Marine Boat, the chaplain from the Weymouth Veterans Council says a prayer follow by laying a wreath to sea. The Second part is on Wessagussett Yacht Club, a Rifle and Cannon salute follow by taps done by American Legion Post 79 Rifle Team, Wessagussett Yacht Club and Sons of the American. This tribute is to honor and remember our fallen servicemembers at sea.
The Weymouth Veterans Council wants to thanks everyone who attend the ceremony.
A special thank you to the Weymouth Police Marine Unit, Wessagussett Yacht Club, Weymouth Emergency Management, George Bean American Legion Post 79 Rifle Team, Weymouth Veterans Service Office and The Mayor Michael Molisse for their participation and support.
