🎉 Happy 5-Year Anniversary, LaKesha Ross! 🎉

In September 2021, LaKesha Ross joined the Elmore County Family Resource Center—and what an impact she has made over these last five years! 💙

During her time with ECFRC, LaKesha stepped into the role of Executive Director and helped take our nonprofit to another level. She helped establish systems, develop new programs, create strategic plans, strengthen our organization, and build partnerships that continue to thrive today.

So much of what we are able to do today has roots in the work, vision, and foundation she helped put in place.

Today, LaKesha continues to serve ECFRC as our Financial Specialist, bringing her knowledge, commitment, and heart for this organization into another important area of our work.

LaKesha, thank you for five years of investing in ECFRC, believing in our mission, and helping build something that continues to grow and serve families throughout our community.

Happy 5-Year ECFRC Anniversary!
We are so grateful for you and the legacy you continue to build with us!

Foster, Adoptive & Kinship Families — This Night Is for YOU!

Join us September 17 at Thelma Baptist Church for our Foster Support Night, open to foster families, adoptive families, and kinship families.

This month, we’re excited to have an attorney from The Adoption Law Firm joining us to provide practical education and help families better understand the court process.

We’ll talk about topics such as:

* How to prepare for court and trial
* Best practices inside the courtroom
* When and how foster parents may be able to intervene
* Understanding what foster parents can and cannot do
* Navigating guidance and expectations from DHR
* How to better advocate, prepare, and understand your role in the process

There are so many parts of foster care, adoption, and kinship care that families are expected to navigate without always knowing what questions to ask. We want to help change that.

Come get educated, ask questions, connect with other families, and leave feeling better equipped for the journey ahead.

💙 Meet the Team Monday 💙

At Elmore County Family Resource Center, we're more than job titles, we're neighbors, parents, friends, and people who are passionate about helping people.

Each Monday, we're introducing one member of our team so you can get to know the faces behind our programs and services. We hope you'll discover something you have in common and feel a little more connected the next time you call, stop by, or see us in the community.

This week, meet LaKesha Ross!

✨ What brought you to ECFRC?
I was looking for an opportunity to continue growing professionally while also having the flexibility to prioritize my family. ECFRC gave me the opportunity to do both, and I'm grateful to be part of a team that truly values work-life balance.

❤️ Favorite part about serving families in Elmore County?
Helping families connect with resources they didn't even know existed. I'm always surprised by how many people are unaware of the free services available in our community, and I love being able to connect those dots and make a meaningful difference.

🌟 One word coworkers would use to describe you:
Determined.

☀️ Favorite season and why?
Summer! I love to travel, and summer is the perfect time to make memories with my family.

🌅 Early bird or night owl?
Definitely an early bird!

🎙️ Favorite book, podcast, or TV show right now?
My favorite podcast is The Leader's Cut. I enjoy learning from other leaders and finding new ways to grow both personally and professionally.

🗣️ If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be?
Speaking Spanish. I'd love to communicate more effectively with even more families in our community.

🍜 Favorite local restaurant or treat shop?
Yummy Thai! it's one of my favorite places to eat!

🎣 A fun fact about you that people might not guess?
I love deep-sea fishing! There's nothing quite like being out on the water.

Most-used emoji?🤦
