The Welcome to Wethersfield sign at the Marsh Street entrance is newly planted by volunteers of Wethersfield Village Improvement. The garden will be flush in a few weeks of watering and sun with shades of red, white and blue. Thank you to the Lions Club for Sponsoring this planting and Joe at True Value Hardware for the soil amendments.

Spring 2026 Tree Tour with John Kehoe is Sunday May 31 at 1:30pm. Join us as we walk (just a quarter mile) down Main St. to understand the canopy we have in the older trees along with newer trees, their co-exiting habits and urban tree issues. We will peak into two private gardens and a understand a third from the sidewalk. Wear comfortable shoes. Rain or shine. Meet at First Church exit parking lot. Free and open to the public. Spring Tree Tour along Main St. with John Kehoe. Sunday, March 31. We will meet by the exit driveway of First Church parking lot and continue north along Main St. toward the Cove. We will explore the wide collection of older and newer trees, their co-existing habits, and urban issues with Mr. Kehoe.
The tour will include some private gardens. People can leave the tour whenever they need to. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle. Rain or shine. Free, open to the public.

Arbor Day Celebration Sat. May 2 at 9:30am will be rain or shine at Emerson Williams. We will go inside at Emerson Williams if it rains. Wethersfield Village Improvement works with our town staff to put on this yearly event to fulfill our Tree City USA status. Fourth graders from all of our elementary schools will delight us with their artwork and writings on Trees! Afterwards, they will be on display at Heirloom Market for a week. 75 evergreen tree saplings will be given free to youngsters until they run out. We will have other plants available for a donation to WVIA. This is also a chance to hear our own Colonel Chester Fife and Drum play their timely music. See you there!

Mikey's Place clean up on Saturday. WVIA with Wethersfield Mom's Group and Dad's Group yielded a season ready children's park. Thank you to Mary Daversa for plants, mulch and cookies for everyone. Happy Arbor Day! Our celebration of Wethersfield trees will happen next Sat., May 2 at Emerson Williams School at 9:30am. Writings, drawings of 4th graders across town will be highlighted; dignitaries, local school groups, Colonial Chester Fife & Drum will open the recognition and a tree will be planted by the playscape. We will give away 75 tree saplings for the youngsters to plant - if well taken care of, they will be holiday trees by the time they graduate. Join us for this Arbor Day celebration!
