The Westwood Fire Department will be testing fire hydrants beginning June 8th and concluding on June 9, 2026 at 5pm. During this time users may experience low water pressure or discolored water. Please use caution when washing cloths or dishes during this time. This is a necessary task to insure our fire hydrants are operational and maintained as well it is required by ISO who rates our department for your insurance rates. Please share so that we can get the word out early.

This evening we responded to a kitchen fire. Upon arrival we found heavy smoke and high heat conditions. Engine 1 made an aggressive interior attack and kept the fire to the room of origin. The home suffered smoke and heat damage but damage was kept to as minimal as possible. We want to thank Summit Ironville and Flatwoods Fire Departments for assisting at the scene. Cannonsburg Fire Department covered calls for Westwood and Summit while units operated on scene. We are truly blessed with our volunteer departments.

Our messenger is having problems so if we’re not responding it’s due to the problem with messenger.

Just so everyone knows there is no reason to be alarmed by the whistle at this time, an outside company is there working on the system and replacing controls to keep it in service.

Thank you
