We’ve got a race this year for the board of education!

2 seats are up for election in Westwood and 1 seat is up for election in Township.

3 candidates in Westwood, and 2 candidates in Township.

I’m happy to report that everyone running is a great choice and we will be lucky to have any of them.

Tis the season for recruiting people to run for the Board of Education for WWRSD.

One spot for Washington Township to replace Douglas Cusato.

One spot for Westwood to replace Laura Cooper.

Requirements:
Lives in the town (Westwood/Washington Township)
Will NOT use the Board of Education for their own personal agendas
Will support our students, teachers, and staff

Legal Requirements:
USA Citizen
At least 18 years old
Has been a resident for at least one year preceeding the election (Election is November 2025)
Is a registered voter

Nomination petitions require 25 signatures and need to be filed with the Bergen County Clerk by July 28, 2025.

The deadline for candidates to file their nomination petitions was yesterday.

Westwood has two spots available and Township has one spot.

A huge thank you to Andrea Peck for WWRSD BOE and Jorge Pertuz for WWRSD BOE for their continued contributions to our community!

And an equally huge thank you to Carol Mountain for stepping up once again for our community! To those of you who don’t know, Carol Mountain has previously been a member of the board of education and had been the board president during her most recent term.

PSA There is an instagram account named “stubborntruth_uncensored” that posts blatant lies.

The account exists to spread misinformation and propaganda. The instagram post referenced in this PSA heavily implies it is regarding WWRSD students.
