This week, we recognize the men and women who show up every day and do a job that most people will never fully understand.

Working in corrections isn’t easy. It takes patience, professionalism, and the ability to handle situations that are often unpredictable and stressful. It requires you to stay consistent, make tough decisions, and carry a level of responsibility that doesn’t stop when your shift ends.

Whether you work custody, case management, medical, food services, maintenance, or any other area—every role matters. It takes all of us working together to keep the facility running safely and effectively.

Corrections Week is a time to recognize the hard work, dedication, and commitment that each of you brings to this facility. It does not go unnoticed.

Thank you for what you do each day—for your professionalism, your resilience, and your commitment to the work.

Stay safe and take care of each other.

Westville Correctional Facility is excited to announce the promotion of Cristina Duncan to Deputy Warden of Re-Entry! 🎉

Cristina began her career with the Indiana Department of Correction in March 2007 as a Correctional Officer. Since then, she has steadily advanced through roles of increasing responsibility, including Sergeant in 2012, Administrative Assistant II in 2015, and Correctional Program Director II in 2019.
Most recently, as Correctional Program Director over the Compliance Division at Westville, she oversaw critical areas such as litigation, grievances, law library services, court operations, DHB, policy, and ACA accreditation.

In addition to her facility roles, Cristina serves as the Northern Region Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team Leader and has been a valued member of the CISM team since December 2011.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Campbellsville University and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Leadership and Management. Cristina is a proud graduate of the IDOC Leadership Academy (2016) and the Commissioner’s Executive Emerging Leaders (EEL) Program (2017).

Beyond Westville, she provides statewide leadership as President of the Indiana Criminal Justice Association (ICJA), championing professional development and system improvements across Indiana’s criminal justice community.

Congratulations, Deputy Warden Duncan! Your commitment, expertise, and passion for re-entry and rehabilitation inspire us all. We look forward to your continued impact in this new leadership role. đź’™
