🥎🚔 THE POLICE TAKE THE FIRST-EVER BATTLE OF THE BADGES! 🚒🥎

What a great afternoon at the first-ever Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Game! The Westport Police Department came away with the win, taking the bragging rights in the inaugural matchup against the Westport Fire Department! 🏆🚔

But while there may have been a winner on the scoreboard, everyone was a winner today! Both departments had an absolute blast playing, sharing plenty of laughs, friendly competition, and great camaraderie throughout the game. It was a fantastic opportunity for our police officers and firefighters to come together, have some fun, and connect with the community we are proud to serve.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support the event, enjoy some great food, participate in the 50/50 raffle, and cheer us on!

Most importantly, Westport Girls Softball had a successful event, and that is what this was all about! 💙🥎 We are proud to have been part of an event that supports the young athletes in our community.

We hope this is just the beginning and that Battle of the Badges becomes a yearly Westport tradition!

🚨 UPCOMING ROAD RACE & RIDE ALERT 🚨

The Westport Police Department would like to make residents and motorists aware of two upcoming road races/rides taking place in town on Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20.

Please expect increased bicycle/pedestrian activity, traffic delays, and temporary traffic direction along the routes.

🚴 SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

⏰ 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM

The Saturday event will affect the following roads:

• Hixbridge Road
• Drift Road
• Old County Road
• Fisher Road

🌧️ Rain Date: Sunday, September 20

If the Saturday event is postponed due to weather, it will use the same roads and timeframe on Sunday.

🚴 SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20

The Sunday event will affect:

• John Reed Road
• Route 88 — from John Reed Road to Drift Road
• Drift Road
• Hixbridge Road
• Horseneck Road
• East Beach Road

⚠️ Please Note: If the Saturday event is moved to Sunday due to weather, the Sunday route will be changed to prevent both events from using the same roads at the same time.

In that situation, the Sunday route will use:

• John Reed Road
• East Beach Road
• A portion of Horseneck Road
• The route will then continue into Dartmouth before returning to Westport using the same roads.

👮 POLICE TRAFFIC CONTROL

Westport Police officers will be present at major intersections throughout the events to assist with traffic flow and keep participants and motorists safe.

Please plan accordingly, allow extra travel time, use caution when traveling through the affected areas, and follow the directions of police officers and event personnel.

🥎🚔 BATTLE OF THE BADGES! 🚒🥎

It’s time to settle the score on the softball field! Join us for the Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Game, as the Westport Police Department takes on the Westport Fire Department in a fun night supporting a great cause!

📍 WYYAA – 567 American Legion Hwy, Westport

Come out, bring the family, and cheer on your favorite local first responders! There will be a food truck featuring Lexi’s Road Dogs, a 50/50 raffle, and event T-shirts available for $25.

🎟️ Admission: $5

Most importantly, proceeds benefit Westport Girls Softball! ⚾️💙

We hope to see the Westport community there for an afternoon of friendly competition, great food, and supporting our local youth!

On the morning of August 25, 2026, Westport Police responded to Lees Supermarket on Main Road to investigate a reported break in at the liquor store that occurred sometime during the overnight hours.

Upon arrival, officers observed a broken exterior window and a broken interior door window. Officers also located two broken liquor bottles on the ground outside the building.

Detectives responded to process the scene and continue the investigation. Through video surveillance and other investigative means, detectives developed a potential suspect.

On August 26, 2026, Westport Police responded to an address on Kirby Road to speak with the potential suspect, Jacob Farias. Upon arrival, detectives and patrol officers located Farias in the backyard. Farias attempted to flee on foot, resulting in a short foot pursuit.

Officers apprehended Farias a short distance away.
Farias was placed under arrest, booked at the Westport Police Department, and transported to the Fall River Justice Center.
Farias is being charged with:

- Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime
- Larceny from a Building

Westport Police is looking for information and requesting area awareness regarding a B&E which occurred overnight on August 11th-12th where 4 motorcycles were stolen from Windmill Cycles at 61 Hixbridge Road, Westport, MA. The incident occurred between 11:00pm and 10:00am.

Anyone with any surveillance footage from the area or additional information is encouraged to call and request to speak with Detectives at (508)-636-1122, any information is helpful.

🚨 COMMUNITY REMINDER: ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING TODAY 🚨

Today, Thursday, August 13, the Westport Police Department, in partnership with our public safety partners, will be conducting active shooter response training at Westport Junior/Senior High School, 400 Old County Road.

This is a training exercise only and is designed to help our first responders prepare for and improve their response to an active threat situation.

Residents should expect to see increased police, fire, and emergency response activity in and around the high school, including emergency vehicles and personnel. There may also be sounds and activity associated with the training that could appear concerning to those nearby.

⚠️ Please do not be alarmed. This is a planned training exercise.

We ask that everyone avoid the area if possible and give our emergency personnel the space they need to safely conduct this important training.

We appreciate the community's patience, understanding, and cooperation as we continue to work together with our public safety partners to keep our schools and community safe.

The Westport Police Department, in partnership with our public safety partners, will be conducting active shooter response training today, Monday, August 10, at the Westport Junior/Senior High School.

This is a planned training exercise designed to enhance the preparedness, coordination, and response capabilities of our police officers and public safety partners in the event of an emergency.

Residents in the area may notice an increased police and emergency services presence, as well as training activity around the school. There is no emergency or threat to the school or community.

We ask everyone to please avoid the area if possible and do not be alarmed by the training activity.
