The Westport Police Department wants to remind everyone that today is the first day of school for Ocosta School District!
As students return to the classroom, they will be excited to reunite with friends, meet new teachers, and get back into their daily routines. With the increased activity around our schools and neighborhoods, we ask all drivers to exercise extra caution while traveling throughout the community.
Please remember to:
✅ Slow down in school zones
✅ Watch for children crossing streets and walking near roadways
✅ Be alert for school buses and obey all bus stop laws
✅ Allow extra travel time during the morning and afternoon commute
✅ Eliminate distractions and stay focused on the road
Many students, especially our youngest learners, may be distracted by the excitement of the new school year and may not always pay close attention to traffic. A little extra patience and awareness can help ensure every student arrives safely to school and returns home safely each day.
