The Westport Cultural Council is looking for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs, and invites organizations, schools, and individuals to apply for grants that will support cultural activities in our community. Applications are available on-line Friday, September 1, 2017 with a deadline for all to be submitted by Monday, October 16th. WCC Chair, Carolyn Duby stated, "These gra
nts support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Westport including concerts, field trips, short-term artist residencies, workshops, and lectures. Our town has an exciting array of programs because of the many groups funded by the WCC grants. The Westport Cultural Council is part of a network of Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts. The LCC program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences, and humanities every year. WCC is committee of the town of Westport and supported with funding by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Ellis Charitable Trust, Bank of America. Helen Ellis was an artist, sculptor, dedicated educator and community activist who make a distinctive mark and left a legacy that continues to support local cultural programs. Together, these two funding programs have made it possible for the Westport Cultural Council to award grants that reach all corners of our town and support historians, musicians, educators, theater groups, naturalists, and non profit organizations who help to make Westport a more vibrant and culturally rich community.
