On August 10th, 2025, the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a missing 13-year-old female in Sandcreek Township. She was last seen at approximately 9:00 a.m.
An Incident Command was established at the Jennings County Community Building, where a coordinated search plan was organized, and teams were deployed. Chief Deputy Cody Low, Fire Chief Mike Cole (North Vernon Fire), Assistant Chief David Owsley (Scipio Geneva Fire), and Lieutenant Tyler Morris (North Vernon Fire) directed operations.
Search efforts began immediately, involving approximately 150 personnel and utilizing Stat Flight Helicopter, Search and Rescue K-9s, drones, kayaks, door-to-door search teams, and numerous first responder resources. The juvenile was briefly entered as a Silver Alert to help broaden the search. At approximately 7:00 p.m., after nearly 10 hours missing, she was safely located approximately four miles from her home.
