Saturday evening, WAS astrophotographer Steven Labkoff, went to the banks of the Hudson in S. Nyack to capture the full moonrise over the Tappan Zee Bridge. The moonrise was one of the better events due to the crystal clear sky and the nearly perfect alignment from S. Nyack that night.

This week WAS member and Astrophotographer Steven Labkoff, nailed a lunar transit of the ISS across the waxing gibbous moon from Milford, CT. The entire event lasted just 1.6s (across the moon), just over 3s with the lead-in and out. The image was made using a Nikon Z6ii with a 500mm f/5.6 prime with a 2x teleconverter - aimed at the moon and shooting in 60 fps video mode, resulting in over 250 individual frames. The short clip was run through PIPP - a planetary imaging app to align all the frames, and then blended together to get this stop-motion effect in Photoshop. In fact, there were so many frames that every other frame was discarded, and there was still plenty of data.

All of this happened in the blink of an eye - but the processing took slightly longer...
