Each month, one student in each class is selected as their grade’s “Champion of the Month” - someone who has demonstrated high performance in a discipline such as academics, behavior, leadership, athletics, character, arts, service, etc… or a combination of these categories. Additionally, there will be an additional recipient of the award each month - a Principal’s awardee - who has gone above and beyond to personify our Champions Culture in a unique way.
Our 6th Grade Champion for the month of May is Abigail Blyth. Abby is one of the most genuinely kind individuals you will meet. She is a light in any room and has a positive attitude that is contagious. She is dedicated to school and goes above and beyond without hesitation or complaint. Abby has excelled in her academic, athletic, and social endeavors during her first year at PWMHS. The 7th Grade Champion of the Month is Grayson Wohlfert. Grayson consistently demonstrates the qualities of an outstanding student and positive role model in our classroom. He actively participates in class, yet beyond his academic efforts, he consistently treats others with kindness and consideration. Grayson is a quiet leader who leads by example through his positive attitude, strong work ethic, and respectful behavior. Our 8th Grade champion is Ty Spitzley. Ty brings a powerful, quiet intensity to everything he does. He is exceptionally genuine and he isn't afraid to look you in the eye and speak with absolute honesty. Ty also has a high standard for hard work and consistently holds himself, and those around him, to that benchmark. Ty demonstrates a dedicated work ethic both in and out of the classroom, while remaining deeply accepting and supportive of everyone in his community.
Mara Thelen is truly deserving of being named 9th Grade Champion of the Month. She is incredibly personable and easy to talk to - the kind of student you can have a genuine conversation with. Thelen is dedicated to her learning, consistently puts forth effort, and approaches school with a positive attitude. Beyond academics, Mara is kind to those around her and helps create a welcoming classroom environment. Her character, work ethic, and ability to connect with others make her a wonderful role model for her peers. Our 10th Grade Champion of the Month is Erin Smith. She is a true silent superstar in every sense. In the classroom, she is always locked in, maintaining a top-notch work ethic and consistently doing the absolute best she can. Erin has been an incredible leader in ASL class, setting a perfect example for others on how to effectively communicate. In all her classes she regularly asks pointed questions to ensure she can seamlessly apply complex information to new situations. Beyond her academic drive, Erin is incredibly kind and actively looks out for anyone in need of a helping hand. On the track team, her awesome spirit shines as she acts as everyone else’s biggest supporter. To top it all off, she is a terrific baker who regularly shares her wonderful creations. Our 11th Grade Champion is Charlie George. When you think of good-natured people, you can’t help but to think of Charlie - and smile. He is a great collaborator, regularly engages in academic conversations and challenges thinking. While on the quiet side, his example of kindness and respect speaks louder than words. Charlie is a true champion!
Lastly, this month’s Principal’s Award goes to 7th Grader Kennedy Evans. Kennedy has had a fantastic year within our building and is not afraid to put herself out there in a bold way - affecting our school’s culture in a positive way. She crushes it in the classroom - earning all As and recently scoring above the 85th Percentile in both Math and Reading on her NWEA Spring Assessment - but also has found her calling within our Band and Theater programming. Not afraid to buck trends and stereotypes, Kennedy in an all-star tuba (!) player... and also recently starred on stage as Shere Khan within The Jungle Book Jr. Kennedy is also a kind friend to all within our middle school, unafraid to branch out beyond the peers of her own grade. Thank you for being who you are, Kennedy. Let that light shine bright!
Each of these students have demonstrated above and beyond efforts both in and outside of the classroom and are to be commended for their representation of our Champions Culture! !
