FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

At 10:53 PM Weston Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to Lyons Plain Road in the area of North Avenue for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident. Upon arrival fire personnel located a single vehicle off the roadway on a rock wall. The occupant was evaluated by Weston EMS for non life threatening injuries. Engine 7, Rescue 5 and 552 filled the assignment. All units were back in service by 12:05 AM.

Type of Incident: Motor Vehicle Accident With Rollover

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

At 7:43 AM Weston Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to Broad Street in the area of Crystal Lake Drive for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident with rollover and entrapment. Upon arrival fire personnel located a single vehicle rolled over on its side off the roadway. The sole occupant was able to self extricate from the vehicle. The occupant was evaluated by Weston EMS for non life threatening injuries. Broad Street was closed for an hour and a half as a result of this incident. Car 1, Car 2, Engine 3, Rescue 5, 552 and Medic 500 filled the assignment. All units were back in service by 9:15 AM.

We are proud to announce our newest active firefighters, Daniel Carter and Maksimilian Shemiako! Following the successful completion of their probationary periods, both members have officially joined the ranks as Weston’s newest active firefighters. Daniel and Maksimilian each earned their Firefighter I, Hazmat Awareness, and Hazmat Operations certifications, while completing more than 200 hours of departmental training.

Both Daniel and Maksimilian are also second-generation members of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department, continuing a tradition of family service that dates back to the founding of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department 95 years ago.

Please join us in congratulating Daniel and Maksimilian on this important milestone and welcoming them as active members of the Weston Fire Department!

Weston Fire responded to 112 calls throughout the month of July, including 19 overnight calls. During the storm earlier in July, our firefighters responded to nearly 30 calls in just 48 hours as severe weather impacted the area.

Calls included a HAZMAT investigation, multiple fires, and mutual aid to Easton for a brush fire at the reservoir. Members also provided standby coverage for the Independence Day fireworks display. Additionally, members trained on marine unit operations, HAZMAT response, and pumping.

From emergency calls to training and community events, our members remain committed to serving the community 24/7.

At 11:49 PD Weston Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to Old Redding Road in the area of Kellogg Hill Road for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident with injuries. Firefighters located a single vehicle accident that had struck a telephone pole. One occupant was transported by Weston EMS to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries. Engine 4, Rescue 5, Car 3 and 552 filled the assignment. All units were back in service by 12:45AM.

Earlier this week Weston Firefighters trained on water rescue techniques at the Saugatuck Reservoir. Crews practiced performing searches and rescues from both our marine unit along with our ice rescue sleds. A special thanks to Weston EMS stood by for the drill and to Aquarion for providing us access to the Reservoir for this training.

At 8:04 AM Weston Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to Newtown Turnpike in the area of Lakeside Drive for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident with injuries. Firefighters located a single vehicle accident that had struck a telephone pole and drove off the roadway. One occupant was evaluated by Weston EMS for non life threatening injuries. Engine 3, Engine 4, Rescue 5, Medic 500 and 551 filled the assignment. All units were back in service by 9:30 AM.

This evening Weston Fire will be conducting training at the Saugatuck Reservoir from Anglers Dock. As a result there will be a large Fire and EMS presence in the area from approximately 7:00pm - 10:00pm. Please use caution if driving through the area during this time.

Incident Location: 237 Godfrey Road East
Type of Incident: Dumpster Fire
Incident #: 26-000723

On July 24, 2026, at 2:47 PM, Weston Fire was dispatched to the Weston Transfer Station for a reported dumpster fire. Firefighters arrived on scene and located an active fire inside a large dumpster in the rear of the Transfer Station. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and remained on scene performing overhaul with assistance from the Weston Department of Public Works.

18 Weston Firefighters responded to this incident. Car 1, Engine 2, Engine 3 and Engine 4 filled the assignment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The last fire unit cleared the scene at 3:48 PM.
