The Pottawatomie County Attorney’s Office will be closed to the public Thursday, June 11, and Friday, June 12, 2026, for mandatory training. During this time, staff will not be able to answer the phones or help walk-in public.
Contact may still be had with the office via email (all staff emails are listed at https://www.pottcounty.org/149/County-Attorneys-Office or you may leave a voice mail on the main line: 784-457-3511. Personnel will answer emails or voicemails as available during the training days.
If you are a defendant and are not represented by an attorney and need immediate assistance, please contact the Clerk of the District Court at 785-457-3392. If you are on diversion, no in-person meetings will occur during this time frame. Payments due may be mailed to the office at: PO Box 219, Westmoreland, KS 66549. Any modifications to the schedule will be posted on the county website.

Cedar Creek Road is closed to through traffic due to a road structure failure. The structure is located .75 miles north of the intersection of Rocky Lane and 1.32 miles south of Highway 13.

A hot and humid start to the work week is expected before a cold front moves through late Wednesday and brings relief from the heat. Near-daily afternoon storm chances will be possible, but no day looks like a total washout.

Ongoing isolated flooding will continue across far northeast Kansas this morning. Another round of strong storms will be possible across the KS/NE border this evening that could lead to further flooding. A stormy and weekend will precede a very warm and humid start to next week as heat index values push above 100 degrees.

There are some closed roads in various parts of Pottawatomie County due to flooding. Do not go around barriers and do not drive through flooded roadways.

Today is a day to keep an eye on the weather, especially across areas north of Interstate 70. Expecting several rounds of showers and storms through tonight, with some of these storms producing severe weather and/or areas of flooding.

Emergency services will operate as normal.
The Board of County Commissioners will not meet.
