Westmoreland Middle School 8th Grade Families

We want to share some important information with our 8th grade families about the upcoming SOS (Signs of Su***de) Prevention Program.

• Our 8th grade students will have the opportunity to participate in the program during their Related Arts class on November 9th or 10th.

• Students received a letter to bring home today with information about the program and instructions for families who choose to opt out.

• We have also provided a helpful flyer with tips and suggestions for supporting your child if they experience a mental health concern or crisis.

• We encourage families to take a few minutes to review the information provided and talk with their child about the importance of seeking help and supporting one another.

• For more information about the SOS Prevention Program, families can visit mindwise.org/parents/.

Please take a moment to check out this important information from our wonderful STARS Counselor, Mrs. Hope Welch. We want to make sure our students and families know about the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline and the resources available when someone is experiencing a mental health crisis.

1. 988 is a free, confidential resource available by phone, text, or chat for anyone experiencing a mental health or emotional crisis.

2. Calling 988 connects you with a trained crisis counselor who can listen, provide support, and help connect you with the right resources.

3. In Tennessee, 988 serves as a statewide entry point to help individuals access appropriate behavioral health services.

4. The flyer highlights the significant number of Tennesseans using 988 and the growing need for mental health support and awareness.

5. Please share this information with your family so everyone knows that help is available when it is needed.

🏈🦅 HOMECOMING WIN, EAGLES! 🦅🏈

What a night for Westmoreland Middle School Football! Rocking their throwback Westmoreland Hilltoppers jerseys, our Eagles brought the energy and came away with a big Homecoming victory in front of an amazing home crowd. The student section, the cheer square — everyone showed up and showed out! 💙🤍 A great nod to WMS history on such a special night!

And that win moves us to a perfect 4-0 on the season! 🔥 Undefeated and rolling — this team just keeps proving how much heart and hard work they’ve put in.

Congratulations to our players and coaches on a phenomenal effort. Let’s keep the momentum going, Eagles! On to the next one! 🏈

🏈 Homecoming Week at WMS! 🏈

What a Pep Rally! The energy in the gym was electric (and loud 😏) yesterday as our Westmoreland Middle School Cheerleaders got the whole school fired up for Homecoming. Smiles, school spirit, and pure excitement everywhere you looked — this is what WMS pride looks like! 🦅

Several Westmoreland Middle School students voluntarily participated today in FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) Campus 101 Leadership Training at Long Hollow Baptist Church.

Our students enjoyed a wonderful day of learning, worship, and fellowship as they developed leadership skills and learned how to:

• Connect with and encourage their classmates
• Promote and grow their FCA program
• Create fun and engaging activities
• Help facilitate meaningful, student-led FCA gatherings

We are proud of these students for taking the initiative to grow as leaders and make a positive impact on our school community!
