There is always a project planned for infrastructure improvements, sidewalk replacement and road reconstruction to keep this village looking good and being maintained for future generations. WHATCHA WEARING?
Westmont Public Works fashion is very noticeable and we love making a statement with our highly visible attire! Safety and awareness are the top priorities for our crew while working in the field. They typically sport a Westmont logoed shirt, a safety vest, a hard hat, long pants, and work boots. We are BIG fans of the colors safety orange, safety yellow, red, black, and grey. You will know Public Works is on the job whenever you spot our logo in the area!

Public works is always present in your community!
Our crew has a hand in everything! The department is made up of six divisions, each offering essential assistance in everyday tasks:
❤️ Administration: Oversees overall operations, budget, and personnel.
❤️ Fleet & Facilities Maintenance: Manages over 120 vehicles and equipment while maintaining crucial Village buildings.
❤️ Forestry & Grounds: Cares for 11,000 parkway trees and manages community green spaces.
❤️ Streets: Maintains 64 center lane miles of roads and 104 miles of sidewalks.
❤️ Underground: Responsible for 90 miles of storm sewers and drainage infrastructure.
❤️ Water Division: Manages 97 miles of water mains and 1,403 fire hydrants.

Today kicks off National Public Works Week! This year's theme is “Rooted in Service and Powered by Community.”

Our Public Works crew members work year-round behind the scenes to keep our community safe and functional. Every project, seen or unseen, powers the connection between service and the people it supports. We take great pride in our role for the Village of Westmont and its residents and are proud to celebrate the dedicated professionals who maintain our essential infrastructure and provide vital services to the Village.

LITTER ADDS UP: Small Habits That Keep Our Natural Spaces Healthy

You’re walking in the nearby park when you notice a plastic cup and some crumpled wrappers in the grass. It may seem minor, but even a few pieces of litter can disrupt the experience of being outdoors. As litter builds up, what began as a small issue can quickly become a bigger problem for our natural spaces. By rethinking habits around trash, we can keep our parks, forest preserves, and rivers healthier for everyone.

NEW CONSTRUCTION PROJECT: E Burlington Ave S-Curve Realignment

Starting Monday, April 13, 2026, E Burlington Ave will be closed between N Cass Ave and just east of N Linden Ave. Detour sign will be posted. A map of the project location and construction updates can be found on our website at https://westmont.illinois.gov/249/Construction-Updates

NEW CONSTRUCTION PROJECT: N Park St, Chicago Ave, and Willard Place Water Main Improvements

This water main project is scheduled to begin the week of April 13, 2026. All affected residents have received an acknowledgment letter detailing project information. **PRESCRIBED BURNS IN WESTMONT 3/30/26**
There will be prescribed burns occurring throughout Westmont today, March 30, 2026. Residents may notice smoke plumes or the smell of smoke in the area. The Westmont Fire Department has been notified and is aware of this activity.
