The Board of Education of Carroll County will briefly convene in open session on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Charles I. Ecker Board Room at 125 North Court Street in Westminster to announce they will be going directly into closed session as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act, Section 3-305 (b) of the General Provisions Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland and Section 3-103 of the General Provision Articles of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The public Board meeting will commence at 4:00 p.m. in the Charles I. Ecker Board Room immediately following Closed Session.

During the Closed Session, the Board members will be discussing the following: the appointment, employment, assignment, promotion, discipline, demotion, compensation, removal, resignation, or performance evaluation of appointees, and employees, get legal advice on the Outdoor School Program, and the declaratory ruling on the career ladder, and updates on negotiations.

Fourth grade students at Mechanicsville Elementary School were able to have a meaningful experience to the Earth Systems Unit learning how rain gardens help minimize erosion by absorbing water run-off from the school parking lot. The plants and mulch will help to absorb and filter water run-off so that less nutrients and pollution make it into our waterways and to the bay. Thanks to the students, parent volunteers, and teachers who worked so hard on this project!

Congrats to the Westminster Elementary School Intermediate Band and Orchestra who performed at Hersheypark's Music in the Park festival last week. Both ensembles earned 1st Place in the Elementary School Division and received Superior Ratings, the highest rating awarded by the judges. These honors reflect the students' hard work, dedication, and commitment to musical excellence throughout the school year. In addition to their award-winning performances, students enjoyed a memorable day at Hersheypark, celebrating their success and representing Westminster Elementary and CCPS with pride. Congratulations to our student musicians and Mr. Thompson for this outstanding achievement!

The FSK Drama Club is hosting a summer camp again this year! This is open to all students in grades 2-7 and will be held at FSK HS. The camp will run 6/15-6/18, with both morning and afternoon sessions. Campers cannot attend both sessions (they will be identical) and the week culminates in a performance for friends and family!
