🚨 A Preventable Crash Can Happen in Seconds🚨

This crash was the result of a combination of driver distraction, fatigue, and a vehicle stopped on the right shoulder for a non-emergency situation. Thankfully there were only minor injuries.

Whether you’re behind the wheel or stopped along the roadway, every decision matters. If you’re tired, don’t drive. Put the phone down, stay alert, and give stopped vehicles plenty of space.

If you need to pull over, make sure you’re in a safe location whenever possible, and remember the side of the highway is not a place to let your guard down.

Slow down. Stay alert. Drive responsibly. Someone’s life may depend on it. 🚗⚠️

🚨The Area, will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) / driver license checkpoint on August 27th, 2026, from 9:30 pm - 2:00 am, within the area of northbound Montecito Road, south of Copa De Oro Drive.

All too often, members of the community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by intoxicated drivers. The CHP’s goal is to ensure the safe passage of each and every motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of intoxicated drivers. A sobriety/driver license checkpoint is a proven effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations. Motorists approaching the checkpoint will see informational signs advising them that a sobriety checkpoint is ahead. Once diverted into the lane, motorists will be detained only a few moments while an officer explains the purpose of the checkpoint. Drivers found to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs can expect to be placed under arrest. Drivers who are unlicensed or have had their driving privileges suspended, will be cited and could have their vehicles towed.

By publicizing our efforts, we hope to deter motorists from drinking and driving and driving without a valid driver license. Remember: Drive sober, plan ahead, and help keep our roads safe for everyone.

It's National Brake Safety Week!

Good brakes can make all the difference when you need to stop quickly.

This week, take a minute to check your brakes. If you notice squeaking, grinding, vibrations, a soft brake pedal, or your vehicle pulling when braking, it may be time for an inspection.

Don't wait until there's a problem. Make sure your vehicle is ready to stop safely before you hit the road.
