Congratulations OCFA Division 6 Chief Jim Henery on being honored as the Chief of the Year at the Orange County Fire Authority Foundation's Annual Best and Bravest Awards! Chief Henery began his fire service career in 1987 with the Santa Ana Fire Department as a firefighter and rose through the ranks, serving as a firefighter paramedic, apparatus operator, captain, and battalion chief. In 2019, Chief Henery was promoted to Division Chief and now leads OCFA's Division 6, overseeing operations in the City of Santa Ana. A very well-deserved recognition for all that you have done for the residents of Santa Ana. 🚒👩🏽‍🚒

All evacuation orders related to the Garden Grove hazardous materials incident have been lifted.

Unified Command (Fire, Law, EPA, and County Health) have confirmed there is:

✅ No chemical leak
✅ No threat of explosion
✅ No threat of fire
✅ No risk to the public

Red circle = An exclusion zone to allow hazardous materials teams to continue monitoring the tanks out of an abundance of caution (no residents affected).

Before there was a Segerstrom Center for the Arts, there was a Segerstrom Center composed of office buildings in Downtown Santa Ana. On May 26, 1963, the Segerstrom Family announced the completion of the United California Bank Building at 1010 Main Street. It was the first building in Santa Ana to have a roof-top helipad. Today, the United California Bank Building is a part of the Orange County School of the Arts campus.

As Santa Ana's representative to the OCFA Board and the Board's Immediate Past Chair, I attended today's update on the Garden Grove chemical incident. We learned some good news, including that the threat of a massive explosion has been eliminated and that the evacuation area has been significantly reduced. Sunday, May 17 is Santa Ana Resident Day at the Santa Ana Zoo from 10am to 4pm.
Residents of Santa Ana receive FREE admission on the 3rd Sunday of every month with proof of residential address, such as a utility bill.
