The district has an early childhood center, 10 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 2 high schools, an Innovative Academy and Career-Tech Center. Wayne-Westland Community Schools has a tradition of excellence. We are proud to have a nationally recognized History Teacher of the Year, as well as JROTC Senior Army Instructor of the Year amongst our highly qualified and dedicated teaching staff. WWCS proudly prepared three students for the Gates Millennium Scholarship winners over the past two years. Our Early Childhood Center serves children from zero to age five. They can help you choose from many free programs, the right preschool program, for your child. The district offers elementary foreign language and Talented and Gifted programs (TAG). High school students choose both advanced placement classes and earn direct college credit for free. Our award-winning Career-Technical Center offers more than 20 programs to high school students including Emergency Medical Technician, Health Occupations, Robotics, Construction Technology, and Alternative Energies. Our staff provides the very best educational opportunities for 11,900 students from Westland, Wayne, Canton, Dearborn Heights, Inkster, and Romulus. The district promotes high expectations for success and provides students with a safe, caring, and nurturing environment. Wayne-Westland students develop the character, confidence, and values needed to become productive citizens in a global marketplace. Start the Year with Strong Attendance Habits

🕘 Set a consistent bedtime and wake-up time. A regular sleep schedule can help students get the rest they need to be ready for school.

🎒 Prepare the night before. Pack backpacks, choose clothes and gather anything your student needs before bedtime.

⏰ Build in extra time. Give your family a few extra minutes in the morning to avoid a rushed start.

📅 Keep track of important dates. Know the school calendar, including start and end times, half days and scheduled breaks.

📞 Communicate when challenges arise. If transportation, health, family circumstances, or other barriers are making attendance difficult, talk with the attendance monitor at your child's school.
