Storytime Registration is open as of today, Wednesday, September 2 for Lapsit, Toddler Time, and Preschool Pals only.

Youth Services Program Registration begins tomorrow, Thursday, September 3 at 9:30 a.m. for all other programs.

Summer is winding down, but support is still here. 💚

Our final Social Worker at the Library drop-in session of the season is happening next Wednesday, August 26 from 1-3 p.m. for patrons to connect confidentially and find relevant resources for the entire family—no registration required.

Whatever season of life you’re in, we hope you take advantage of this free opportunity so you can feel more prepared and optimistic moving forward.

We are thrilled to share that our very own Lily Mayfield has been named the 2026 Young Adult Library Professional of the Year by the Illinois Library Association! 🌟

Over the past five years, Lily has transformed the Teen/Tween Department at Thomas Ford by creating welcoming spaces where young adults can connect, learn, and grow.

From leading the Teen Board and organizing meaningful volunteer opportunities to hosting gaming events, cooking programs, and our annual summer Battle of the Books competition, Lily is passionate about meeting young people where they are so they can build confidence, skills, and a lifelong appreciation of reading.

Lily's leadership has also made a lasting impact across Illinois through her work with YALSA, where she has helped connect young readers with books that inspire and engage reluctant readers.

We are incredibly proud of Lily and the invaluable difference she makes in the lives of the teens, tweens, and families we serve every day.

We are so grateful to Gracie the therapy dog for helping our young patrons feel more comfortable and confident in their reading and speaking each month. It’s no surprise that this popular program fills up fast!
