This week, members of the Community Policing Division had the opportunity to deliver school supplies donated through our first ever Back-to-School drive.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Dunn's Corners Fire Department and Westerly Walmart for helping make this drive a success.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who donated and helped support local students in our community. Your generosity truly makes a difference.

Please join members from the Westerly Police Department and Dunn's Corners Fire Department this Saturday from 9 AM - 3 PM at Westerly Wal-Mart for our back to school drive. Members from our Community Police Division will be on site from 9 AM - 1 PM doing car seat checks.

Earlier this week the department received a call for a medical emergency. Upon arrival at the scene, officers were approached by Tucker who informed the officers that an elderly gentleman was experiencing a medical issue and required assistance.

EMS personnel later transported the man to the hospital for further evaluation.

While on the scene, several bystanders informed officers that Tucker had noticed the elderly man struggling to walk and stepped in to help him, guiding him down the street to a nearby bench. Tucker then remained with him, waiting until emergency personnel arrived.

In recognition of his exceptional citizenship and bravery, the Westerly Police Department and IBPO #503 presented Tucker with a brand-new bicycle, helmet, and accessories.

Tuckers action demonstrate the importance of looking out for others and we hope he can inspire all of us to be better.

Yesterday the Westerly Police Department along with the Dunn's Corners Fire Department and Westerly Fire Department had a scrimmage with the Westerly Challengers at Trombino Sports Complex. The Challenger League is for youth with physical or intellectual challenges who love the game of baseball. The rain didn't stop everyone from having a great time!
