Long Island Alzheimer's and Dementia Center

Long Island Alzheimer's and Dementia Center Offering hands-on services that provide respite, support and stimulating programs to individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

The Long Island Alzheimer’s & Dementia (LIAD) Center is a grassroots, not-for-profit organization founded in 1988 by five Long Island women. Each of these women had a connection with dementia and wanted to create a place where people can turn to for much needed help and services. Today, and as we have for over 30 years, the LIAD Center provides diagnosed individuals and caregivers guidance, suppor

t, a community and hope through our hands-on programs. The LIAD Center is unique in that we are a local, ‘one-stop-shop’ that is able to provide the critically needed programs and services families are seeking during their journey. We take considerable pride in our pioneering role in the development of cutting edge services that foster the independence, dignity, well-being and safety of individuals with dementia, thus aiding in the prevention of premature nursing home placement. Until there is a cure, the LIAD Center is the best solution to find respite, help and stimulating activities.

Creativity meets community at LIAD!

This June, we’re coming together to turn simple rocks into meaningful messages of hope, awareness, and support for those impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia. Each painted rock will help connect others to important resources and spark conversations throughout our community. 💜💚

Join us for a relaxing and purposeful morning of creativity, connection, and advocacy during Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month. Whether you’re a caregiver, family member or community supporter, your voice and your rock can make a difference.

To every caregiver:

You spend your days making sure others are cared for, comforted, and never alone. Today, let this be your reminder that your health, peace, and happiness matter too.

Even small moments of rest can make a difference. Take a breath, ask for help when you need it, and give yourself the same compassion you so freely give to others.

LIAD Center is here to support caregivers every step of the way with resources, education, and community.
