Yesterday while visiting The National Museum of African American History and Culture in D.C. I saw this inscription on the wall and it reminded me of my present political situation here in Westampton Township:
"The United States of America was founded on dissent. American colonies waged war for the principle that no one - no king - no lord - no president - held the right to rule without the consent of the people. The demand for popular sovereignty grew out of the experience of the founders, who understood the power granted by liberty. It also sprang in part, from the actions and political philosophies of enslaved men and women, who contested the right of any person to dominate another. Freedom was revolutionary, contagious, and incomplete" The Founding of America...
When the Westampton Democrat Party, Burlington County Democratic Party via its Chair and even an Assemblyman soon to be Senator abdicate the basic values and virtues of the Constitution that as elected officials we presume to advance, it really doesn't matter whether your a democrat or republican...in the end you are no better than a bully or inclined to partake in zealot behavior without rules, integrity or the cannons that a nation of laws prescribe to and in the end the body politic suffers!
So as my hero and mentor the Rev. Dr. King would say, "if it falls to my lot that I stand alone for the basic preservation of democracy in Westampton Township, in the 8th Legislative District of New Jersey...then I will stand alone like, Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed Music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. I will stand alone for the people of Westampton Township, so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause and say, here lived an elected official who stood his ground and represented the people of Westampton Township well!
