Representative Jennifer Konfrst

Representative Jennifer Konfrst Mom, educator, and state representative putting people over politics. For Jennifer Konfrst, central Iowa is home. It’s where her family’s roots are.

It’s where she grew up and graduated high school. It’s where she teaches and the community that has trusted her to fight for them in the Iowa Legislature. It’s where she and her husband raised their kids. As a mom, educator, and state representative, Jennifer has been a fierce defender of Iowa’s working families. She has championed legislation to lower costs and make healthcare more affordable, ra

ise wages and take on corporate greed, protect reproductive freedom, and strengthen our public schools. As House Democratic Leader, Jennifer meets with and listens to Iowans all across Iowa’s Third Congressional District and she hears it time and again— people are tired of politicians who care more about their political futures than building strong families and communities. Jennifer is a fighter who won’t back down, a leader who will stand up to billionaires and corporations. Iowans need an economy that works for them, and she is ready to fight every day to set aside political games and put Iowans first.

It was a great afternoon in Spirit Lake celebrating Dave Dawson’s campaign for Congress. It was extra fun to join my friend Mike Gronstal to share memories from our time as Democratic leaders. Thanks for inviting us!

I had an opportunity to meet with a constituent this morning. As a nurse, she has serious concerns about staffing levels and safety of both patients and nurses working in Iowa hospitals I've heard similar concerns from other nurses and know that United Nurses of Iowa Community have worked to demand safer working conditions and staffing levels.

Are you a health care professional who has concerns about staffing levels or safety in your work environment? Please share your concerns here or reach out to me at jennifer.konfrst (at) legis.iowa.gov and let me know. I'm planning to schedule a meeting to raise these concerns, and would like to come prepared with stories to share (without your names of course).

Thanks for all you do!

I was thrilled to spend some time at Molly Buck For Ankeny’s amazing fundraiser tonight! True to her teacher’s heart, she also collected school supplies and spoke about the kids she can’t wait to teach this fall - and who she will help when she’s in the Iowa House in January!

I always appreciate the chance to show up for people who show up for their communities, and last night’s fundraiser for State Rep. Rob Johnson was a chance to do just that. Thanks for the invite, friend. Let’s leverage this excitement for the biggest turnout ever in Des Moines!

Thanks for hosting me today, my friend!

Thanks for hosting me today, my friend!

Working people deserve a government that works for them—not just the people who can afford to buy influence.

This week on Sage Against The Machine, I sat down with former Iowa House Minority Leader Representative Jennifer Konfrst for an honest conversation about money in politics, rural Iowa, and what it will take to rebuild trust with working families.

Loved the chance to swing by Ankeny Area Democrats annual summer picnic today to celebrate all the great candidates running for office in November! I didn’t get to stay long enough to see all my great friends much but I did love quick hugs and talking about my good friend Josh Turek’s campaign for the U.S. Senate. Huge crowd, fired up people, ready to keep working all the way to Election Day!

📢 Attention voter registration volunteers!

Beginning July 1, Iowa is using a new official voter registration form. If your organization conducts voter registration drives or keeps forms on hand at events, please replace any older versions before your next event.

Download the new form here:
https://sos.iowa.gov/sites/default/files/2026-06/Updated%20VR%20Form%206-29-2026.pdf

What's changed?
• Updated voter eligibility affidavit language
• Greater emphasis on providing an Iowa driver's license number, Iowa non-operator ID number, or the last four digits of a Social Security number (the 4-digit voter PIN has been removed)
• Date of birth and s*x are now clearly identified as required fields

Please note: the voter registration process itself has not changed.

Questions? Contact the Polk County Election Office at (515) 286-3247.
