As we recognize Gun Safety Awareness Month, pediatricians and law enforcement professionals are coming together around a shared message: safe storage saves lives.

Fi****ms are now the leading cause of death for children and teens.

🔒 4.6M children live in homes with unlocked, loaded guns.
🔹 Locking just 20% could prevent up to 135 youth deaths a year.

Being a responsible gun owner means securing your fi****ms.

Watch the new video series from IACP, in partnership with On Call 4 Kids, on the IACP website to hear from pediatricians and law enforcement officers working together to keep kids safe and families protected. 💙 https://www.theiacp.org/working-group/committee/fi****ms-committee

NATIONAL DAY OF REMEMBERENCE - 82ND ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY

Today, we honor the courage and sacrifice of the heroes who took part in the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. On this 82nd anniversary, we remember the 73,000 Americans and thousands of Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy in one of history’s most pivotal military operations, helping secure the liberation of Europe.

Facing overwhelming obstacles and fierce resistance, these brave Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, Sailors, Soldiers, and Marines displayed extraordinary valor. More than 2,500 Americans made the ultimate sacrifice in the cause of freedom.

We remember their service, honor their sacrifice, and remain forever grateful for the freedoms they helped preserve.

CONNECTING WITH YOUTH IN THE COMMUNITY

This week students from Station Avenue Elementary School came by the station for an open house. Students toured our facility, had the opportunity to check out some of the vehicles we use to patrol and had the chance to compete with each other on an obstacle course.

Big thanks to Officers Willis, Bernardo, Cheverie, and Nardone for providing a positive opportunity for the kids in our community!

YARMOUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES PASSING OF K9 SATU

It is with deep sadness that the Yarmouth Police Department announces the passing of K9 Satu, who suffered a sudden medical emergency on Saturday morning.

Born in Hungary, Satu came to the Yarmouth Police Department from Shallow Creek Kennels in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania. For more than 10 years, he proudly served alongside his handler, K9 Officer Mike Kramer, as a highly skilled and dedicated patrol dog.

Throughout his distinguished career, Satu was trained in tracking, building and area searches, evidence recovery, crowd control, and handler protection. He also served in a tactical role as a SWAT K9 with the Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team, providing invaluable support in some of the region’s most challenging situations.

Satu was more than a police dog, he was a loyal partner, a trusted protector, and a beloved member of the Yarmouth Police Department family.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Officer Kramer, his family, the members of the Yarmouth Police Department, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside Satu.

Satu will be greatly missed, but his legacy of service will never be forgotten.
