60% of all the drinking water we use each year goes to outdoor watering in the summer. This year has been a reminder that we need to change how we think about water and be intentional with what we have. Our goal is to use about 10% less water than we did last year. This will put our community in a better position going into next year. So, we are asking everyone to budget with us and only water lawns twice a week or less. 🀝
Β
You can still have a beautiful, functional yard and save a lot of water. Your lawn may not look perfect every day this summer, and that’s okay. We are here to help along the way where we can!

Stay with us this season for practical ways you can use less water while keeping your landscape healthy. Visit learn.jvwcd.gov for more information.πŸ’§

πŸ’§ Every drop counts! There are many simple ways to reduce water use at home and outdoors:

βœ”οΈ Check for leaks in toilets, faucets, and irrigation systems
βœ”οΈ Take shorter showers
βœ”οΈ Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth
βœ”οΈ Run dishwashers and washing machines only when full
βœ”οΈ Install high-efficiency appliances and WaterSense fixtures
βœ”οΈ Water lawns early morning or late evening
βœ”οΈ Set lawnmower blades higher to reduce evaporation
βœ”οΈ Use a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways
βœ”οΈ Turn sprinklers off when rain is expected
βœ”οΈ Reuse leftover cooking water for plants once cooled

Families can help too by visiting public splash pads or pools instead of running sprinklers at home, teaching children conservation habits, and encouraging neighbors to save water.

Thanks to our valued customers for your patience and understanding. And thanks to our crews and their diligent and effective efforts this evening. If you have lingering coloration issues, our capable water quality team has advised running water for 10 to 15 minutes, or until clear. Thanks again -

Granger-Hunter is experiencing an operational disturbance in the water system which could be creating aesthetic issues (slightly discolored water from natural minerals being stirred up). The area impacted is from 3500 South to 4700 South and from 3200 West to 5200 West. Crews are now working hard to flush the water mains. The water does not pose any health risks; however, we are asking customers to limit their water use. We apologize for the impacts and we are working diligently to clear this as soon as possible.
