WVCFD crews were dispatched to a shed fire this morning near 7030 W and King Estate Drive. The call came in around 7:30am and crews were on scene within 4 minutes. The fire started in a shed in the backyard and spread to a shed and fence right next to it as well as a garage attached to home. Crews were able to get a handle on the fire in about 15 minutes, so the living areas of the home only sustained smoke damage. Seven adults and 3 dogs were displaced from the home and no one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Thank you to Unified Fire Authority crews who assisted on this fire.

Our crews put out a grass fire at 5612 South U111 around 5pm this evening. The fire burned 3-4 acres of grass and was out in approximately 30 minutes. Some farming equipment was threatened by the fire, but crews were able to stop the flames before reaching it. There was no other damage and no injuries. West Jordan and Unified Fire Authority crews assisted with this fire.

Since it’s Wildfire Awareness Month, this is a good time to remind drivers to help prevent grass fires by not letting chains or other car parts drag on the ground. Please also dispose of ci******es properly; never throw a lit cigarette out of a vehicle.

Today we’re remembering all those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. Stay safe this Memorial Day.
