West Reading said Pride, but make it community. 🏳️‍🌈

Tonight, we proudly raised the Pride flag and I proudly issued a proclamation recognizing Pride Month in the Borough of West Reading - because visibility, belonging, and love matter here.

Thank you to Reading Pride Celebration & The LGBT Center of Greater Reading, our community members, elected officials, and everyone who showed up, cheered, took photos, and reminded us what community is supposed to feel like.

And because West Reading knows how to do things right, we kept the celebration going at The Bar Cart PA. ❤️

Happy Pride Month, West Reading!

I’m still a little overwhelmed by this one 🥹💙

On Tuesday, I was honored to receive the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs Mayor of the Year Award.

To be recognized by peers from across the Commonwealth is something I never expected when I first got involved in local government. I simply wanted to serve the community I love and do the work.

This award may have my name on it, but it reflects so many people - our residents, volunteers, borough staff, first responders, committee members, local businesses, fellow elected officials, friends, family, and everyone who shows up every day to make West Reading the special place it is.

Serving as Mayor of West Reading, especially as West Reading’s first woman mayor, has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and even more excited for what comes next.

There will be plenty more photos from the conference, but I wanted to share this moment and simply say thank you.

Thank you for trusting me to serve this incredible community💙

Tonight, our community joins the region in honoring Officer Kristen Yeager as she is brought home one final time.

The procession is expected to depart Reading Hospital at 8:00 PM, traveling west on 5th Street to Penn Avenue before continuing to Route 422.

Please be mindful of possible traffic delays and allow the procession to pass safely.

Road closures are expected from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Spruce Street between 5th and 7th, as well as the 200 block of South 6th Avenue.

For those who wish to show their support, turning on a blue light tonight is a simple but powerful way to honor Officer Yeager’s life, her service, and the loved ones, fellow officers, and first responders carrying this loss.

May we meet this moment with grace, compassion, and deep gratitude for a life dedicated to serving others.

I have to give a special shoutout to Mrs. Wojciechowski’s 3rd grade class at Wyomissing Hills Elementary School / Wyomissing Area School District. ❤️

They made this sign for my car in the Berks Armed Forces Day Parade, and I mean… look at it. The stars, the handprints with little notes, the little banner pieces at the bottom - they put their whole hearts into it.

It was such a sweet and thoughtful part of the day, and it meant a lot to have something made by students riding along with me as we honored our service members, veterans, and military families.

Thank you to Mrs. Wojciechowski and her class for making me feel so special - and for reminding all of us that community starts with these small, thoughtful acts of kindness. 🇺🇸

Today, West Reading had the honor of welcoming Governor Josh Shapiro and DCED Secretary Rick Siger to Penn Avenue - and celebrating that our borough is one of 56 communities across Pennsylvania receiving a Main Street investment, with West Reading awarded $60,000.

But what made today special was not just the visit - it was watching our local businesses, community partners, and elected officials come out, say hello, and share directly with state leaders what is happening right here in West Reading and Berks County - that matters.

Because when we talk about investing in Main Streets, we are talking about real people doing real work. We are talking about the creativity, grit, and heart behind every storefront, every small business, every local idea, and every person choosing to build something here.

Whether it was a “Fight a Bear” game designed and created by Symbiote Collectibles, or a custom skateboard representing Berks and Reading from Holistic Skateshop, a fresh cup of coffee and cookie from Simply BOLD, or just shaking the hand of a passionate business owner like Chef David’s Pizza and More - today gave our local businesses a direct voice with the people working hard for Pennsylvania.

And I could not be more proud! 🥹

Proud of our businesses on and off the Avenue. Proud of our community partners. Proud of our elected officials. Proud of the people who keep showing up for West Reading and proving that our borough may be small, but our impact is not.

Thank you to Governor Josh Shapiro, Secretary Siger, and everyone who made time to be here today.

West Reading showed up - and we had a lot to be proud of 💙

Today, we pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

May we honor their sacrifice not only with our words today, but with how we show up for one another, how we serve our community, and how we protect the promise they gave everything for.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

125 years ago, a group of neighbors decided this community was worth protecting. 🚒❤️

This past weekend, we celebrated 125 years of the and the generations of firefighters, volunteers, families, and supporters who helped build its legacy.

As both Mayor and a firefighter, this anniversary meant a lot to me personally - and it was an incredible honor to help push the new engine into the bay during the housing ceremony, a tradition that symbolizes the next generation carrying the department forward.

Behind every truck is a person willing to leave dinner tables, wake up in the middle of the night, and show up for their neighbors when it matters most.

West Reading has always been shaped by people willing to step up for one another. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate this milestone and honor the people behind the badge - Here’s to the next 125. ❤️🔥

Election Day is one of the clearest ways we show up for our communities - Get out and VOTE!

From local races to the Governor’s race, today’s ballot helps shape the future of our communities and our Commonwealth.

Make a plan. Cast your vote. Use your voice. 🗳️🇺🇸

And a huge thank you to the poll workers and volunteers making democracy happen today!

Vines and Vibes was a blast today! 🎶

West Reading Recreation has done an incredible job building this event into something truly special for our community, and from start to finish, they should be so proud.

Thank you to everyone who came out, supported the Recreation Department, shopped with our small vendors, enjoyed the bands, and helped bring such great energy to the day.

I had the best time connecting with residents, seeing the ball field full of life, and even getting to hold a skink - which I have now learned is, in fact, a type of lizard ( & ready to be adopted!). 😂

Thank you to everyone who made today happen! 💚
