West Point Lake is a great place to enjoy this Memorial Day holiday weekend. Here are a few tips to ensure your visit is safe and enjoyable.

1. Safety First: Please wear a properly fitted life jacket when in or around water. Life jackets loaner stations are available, free of charge, at Earl Cook, Rocky Point and Yellowjacket Creek Recreation Areas, as well as Holiday, Whitetail Ridge, Amity and R. Shaefer Heard Campgrounds.

2. Find Space: West Point Lake provides 21 Corps of Engineers managed day use parks. Many of these areas fill up quickly. Visitors are encouraged to go to another park if they can’t find adequate parking or an open picnic table and grill.

3. Picnic Shelter Use: A sign is posted in front of each shelter to indicate if it’s rented, otherwise it is first come, first served.

4. Don’t Litter: We ask that everyone dispose of your trash in receptacles located throughout each park.

5. Be Respectful. Be mindful of others around you trying to enjoy the same park. Music, conversations, and behavior should not disrupt the use of others. Campground quiet hours are 10 PM – 6 AM.

6. See Something, Say Something: If you see suspicious behavior or acts of vandalism, please report these immediately by calling 911.

7. In Remembrance: Take time this Memorial Day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country
