SCAM ALERT

We have been notified that residents of West Point have received phone calls relating to “legal papers” by someone alleging to be a police officer for the West Point Police Department. They are providing badge numbers and names to appear legitimate.

While we are not sure of all the requests these impersonators are making, we want the community to know that no legitimate officer with the West Point Police Department will contact you requesting payment in any form for any reason over the phone.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be an officer with our agency and you feel it is suspicious, terminate the phone call immediately and call the West Point Police Department at 706-645-3525.

Stay safe and stay vigilant!!

National Police Week is May 10th-16th, 2026. In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week as National Police Week.

Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

We honor the officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Join us in congratulating Officer Matthew Hewell, Officer Sir Emmerich Robedeau, and Officer Johnathan Trivett on graduating from the GPSTC – Columbus Police Academy (Session 249) today! 🎓

Following the ceremony, they were immediately sworn in by Chief Carter. 🎖️

We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication these officers showed throughout the academy.

We look forward to supporting them as they begin their service to protect the citizens of West Point. 👮‍♂️💙
