Studying Operation Chromite at Incheon

Cadets on the Far East War Crimes AIAD visited and studied Operation Chromite during a visit to the Memorial Hall for the Incheon Landing Operation. The visit enabled Cadets to study first-hand the scale of operations necessary during the Korean War for U.S. and UN forces. The study fostered discussion and reflection upon commanders' responsibility to ensure Law of Armed Conflict compliance and how large-scale combat operations, such as those that occurred at Incheon, complicate a commander's obligation to uphold the LOAC.

Following the museum visit, Cadets hiked a local trail overlooking the historic landing site. With over 500 feet of elevation change, the hike offered both a physical challenge and a strategic vantage point, reinforcing an appreciation for the operational difficulties faced by forces in 1950.

Faculty in the Field: West Point Civilians Step into Combat Boots!

This summer, our very own Assistant Professor of Philosophy, Dr. Joseph Moore, joined the ranks of CivMX alumni, graduating from the Simon Center’s Civilian Military Experience program — a hands-on immersion into Cadet life at Camp Buckner.

He follows in the footsteps of Assistant Professor Dr. Coleen Watson (CivMX Class of 2024), as both continue building bridges between academic insight and military experience.

Through three intense days of land navigation, live-fire observation, and a wild ride on the Water Confidence Course, CivMX equips West Point’s civilian faculty with a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Cadet — and ultimately, a warfighter.
