This morning, the team had the opportunity to tour a KC-135 thanks to MAJ Nick Kanakis. MAJ Kanakis, USMA ‘09, was the team’s CIC while a cadet, served as a UH-60 pilot, then moved to the Air Force where he now flies the KC-135. The team was briefed on the plane’s features, mission sets, and even got to sit in the boom operator’s compartment. It was a great experience and the team cannot extend enough gratitude.

A huge thanks to Bridgewater State University and New Bedford Regional Airport for hosting us. We also extend a huge thanks to the judges from NIFA Region VII for volunteering to run this event!

The team is excited for next year’s competition, but is now shifting sights to beat Navy and Coast Guard this spring.

Huge congratulations to LTC Chalie Galliand, one of the Flying Team’s Officers-in-Charge, for his promotion to Lieutenant Colonel! LTC Galliand has flown nearly 100 hours with Flying Team members, greatly contributing to their development as pilots and as leaders. In addition, he instructs cadets on rocketry and has taught in both PANE and DMI. LTC Galliand has been an asset to West Point during his tenure.
