EMS Week – Save A Life Day

Today, we recognize the power of everyday people stepping up in an emergency. On Save A Life Day, we are highlighting the importance of CPR and Stop the Bleed training — two skills that can make the difference between life and death before first responders arrive.

At Air Evac Lifeteam AEL 001, we know emergencies can happen anytime, anywhere. Immediate action by a bystander can dramatically improve outcomes for patients experiencing cardiac arrest or severe bleeding.

CPR Saves Lives
High-quality CPR can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival during cardiac arrest.

Stop the Bleed Saves Lives
Knowing how to control severe bleeding with pressure, packing, or a tourniquet can keep someone alive until EMS arrives.

This EMS Week, we encourage everyone to take the time to learn these lifesaving skills. You never know when you may be called upon to help a family member, friend, coworker, or stranger in need.

Thank you to all EMS professionals, healthcare workers, dispatchers, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and community members dedicated to making a difference every day

Today we recognize Safety Day during EMS Week — a reminder that safety is more than policies and checklists, it’s a commitment we make to each other, our patients, and the communities we serve every single day.

At Air Evac Lifeteam, safety is built into every mission from the moment the tones drop until the crew returns home. Whether it’s aircraft operations, ambulance response, scene awareness, clinical decision making, or crew resource management, every step matters.

Behind every safe flight and every successful patient transport is a team dedicated to training, communication, accountability, and constant improvement. Safety protects our crews, our partners, and the patients who trust us on some of the hardest days of their lives.

Today we thank all of our pilots, mechanics, communication specialists, medical crews, and first responder partners who make safety the priority — not just today, but every day.

EMS Week 2026 — EMS Education Day

At Air Evac Lifeteam 001, education never stops. Every call, every training, every scenario, and every patient encounter is another opportunity to learn, improve, and provide the highest level of care possible to our communities.

From continuing education and advanced certifications to simulation training and clinical experience, our crews are committed to sharpening the skills that matter most when seconds count. The medical field is constantly evolving, and so are we.

Behind every successful patient outcome is a team dedicated to preparation, professionalism, and lifelong learning.

Today, we recognize the importance of EMS education and the providers who continue pushing themselves to grow — not because it’s required, but because our patients deserve it.

Thank you to all EMS professionals, educators, preceptors, and mentors who invest their time and knowledge into building stronger providers and safer communities.

EMS Week 2026 Kickoff

Today marks the beginning of EMS Week 2026, and Air Evac Lifeteam is proud to recognize the EMS professionals who answer the call every day to care for their communities.

This year’s kickoff theme is Health, Wellness, and Resiliency — a reminder that taking care of ourselves and each other is just as important as taking care of our patients. EMS is physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding, and resiliency is built through teamwork, support, rest, fitness, mental health awareness, and checking in on one another.

Today we encourage all EMS providers to take a moment to recharge, reflect, and recognize the importance of wellness both on and off duty.

Throughout the week, we’ll be celebrating the dedication, professionalism, and sacrifices made by EMS providers everywhere while highlighting the people behind the uniforms who make this mission possible.

Thank you to every EMT, paramedic, nurse, pilot, mechanic, dispatcher, and support team member who helps keep EMS moving forward every day.

Happy EMS Week 2026!

Ever wonder what it takes to transfer a patient from one hospital to another?

It’s not as simple as just calling for a ride. Interfacility transport involves a coordinated effort to ensure the patient gets the right care, at the right place, at the right time.

Here’s what goes into the process:

• Medical Need – The sending provider determines the patient requires a higher level of care or specialty services not available at their current facility.

• Accepting Facility – Another hospital must agree to accept the patient and have the appropriate resources ready.

• Physician-to-Physician Communication – Direct communication ensures continuity of care and proper transfer of critical information.

• Transport Decision – Ground vs. air is determined based on patient condition, time sensitivity, weather, and distance.

• Flight Crew Activation – When air transport is needed, a highly trained crew is dispatched, equipped to manage critical patients en route.

• Patient Stabilization – The sending facility works to stabilize the patient as much as possible prior to transport.

• Bed Availability & Coordination – Logistics teams ensure there is a bed and staff ready upon arrival.

Behind every transfer is a team of healthcare professionals working together to give patients the best possible outcome.

At Air Evac Lifeteam, we’re proud to be part of that chain of care—bringing advanced medicine to the patient when every minute matters.
