Did you know?
Today is Juneteenth. Juneteenth is the oldest celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the U.S. When Union Troops in Galveston, Texas, led by Major General Gordon Granger, announced the emancipation of the enslaved African Americans throughout the state of Texas on June 19, 1865. Celebrations of Juneteenth would eventually spread around Texas, the south, and the rest of the country in the following years. In 2021, it became a federal holiday.
Pictured is the BHS's Facsimile copy of the Emancipation Proclamation.

As a former educator and a children’s book author based right here in Maine, my entire career has been dedicated to early childhood literacy. I know firsthand how a powerful story can spark a child's imagination and build a lifelong love for reading.

After successfully releasing my debut children's book last fall, I am partnering with the incredible team at Maine Authors Publishing to produce my next project! As a Maine children's book Author, I am bypassing traditional corporate gatekeepers to build a brand-new project that bridges early reading mechanics with authentic cultural history. The story is a beautiful, vibrant journey into Scottish heritage, traditional landmarks, and cultural diaspora history.

The Mission: Independent & Community-Backed:
To bring this project to life with the highest level of professional quality, I am building a grassroots Community Sponsorship Circle. Instead of relying on massive corporate publishing entities, I want this book to be anchored and owned by the community it serves.

Where the Funds Go:
Every single dollar raised through this campaign goes directly into the physical infrastructure of hybrid published book creation, backed by verified estimates from Maine Authors Publishing

Professional Illustration: Compensating a hybrid published artist to design authentic, culturally accurate characters and settings.

Graphic Design & Layout: Professional typography and book layout formatting.

Legacy Printing: Securing a premium, hardbound print run for schools, libraries, and regional heritage gatherings.

Join the Circle:
By supporting this campaign, you aren't just funding a book, you are investing in a woman-owned independent business and helping preserve living heritage literacy for the next generation of young readers.

Whether you can contribute financially or help me bypass the digital algorithms by sharing this post directly with a friend who loves history, education, or children's books, it means the absolute world to me.

Thank you for being part of this journey to the page! 🥰
