"Last week, it was an honor to help celebrate the opening of Temple Israel's new home here in West Palm Beach.

Founded in 1923, Temple Israel has been a cornerstone of Jewish life in Palm Beach County for more than a century. As the county's first Jewish congregation and West Palm Beach's only Reform synagogue, it has played an important role in shaping the spiritual and cultural fabric of our community. Through generations of change, it has remained a place where people gather in faith, build community, mark life's milestones, and support one another. And today represents an exciting new chapter in that story.

After more than 75 years at its former home, Temple Israel is entering a new era β€” one that strengthens its position as a Center for Jewish Life in our community.

Congratulations to everyone who helped make this day possible. May this new home be filled with worship, learning, fellowship, and celebration for generations to come." β€” Mayor Keith A. James

There was music and a bit of magic in the air during the 5 O'Clock Somewhere Fest on the West Palm Beach waterfront, featuring some of the finest country music artists. Here's a look at how it went.

"Today, Friday, June 19, 2026, we honor Juneteenth National Independence Day β€” a day to celebrate Black culture, history, resilience, and freedom.

Although the Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863, it was not until June 19, 1865, that Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the freedom of the last remaining enslaved African Americans. This historic day marks the full realization of emancipation in the United States.

As we commemorate Juneteenth, we do so with pride, reflection, and a renewed commitment to equality, justice, and opportunity for all. Together, we can continue building a future that reflects the promise and progress this day represents." β€” Mayor Keith A. James

With legends like Clint Black, John Anderson, and Shenandoah, plus contemporary sounds from Old Dominion and a rousing performance by the late Jimmy Buffett's Coral Re**er Band, it was an exciting two-day event that thrilled music lovers.
