A meaningful morning at Forest Hill Community High School as the Falcon Battalion JROTC commemorated the 25th anniversary of September 11.

It really puts 25 years into perspective when you look at these students. They weren’t even born when 9/11 happened, and many of their parents may have been students themselves. Yet today, this generation stood together to remember the victims, honor our first responders and military, and ensure we never forget.

Thank you to our JROTC instructors and leadership, the incredible cadets, and everyone who made this ceremony so special. A special thank you to our Culinary students for the beautiful breakfast they prepared for us, and a shout-out to Latinos in Action for being part of this important morning. 🇺🇸

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

25 years later, we remember.

We remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the families whose lives were forever changed.

May we continue to honor their memory through unity, service, and kindness.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

September is Su***de Prevention Month. 💜🩵

As a School Board, we proclaimed September 2026 as Su***de Prevention Month. This one is very personal for me, and not an easy subject to talk about.

In 2020, my dear friend Andrea, whom I have known since high school, lost her 13-year-old son, Nicolas Radey, to su***de. Nicolas was the first person I knew personally whom we lost this way. He was only a couple of years older than my son Luca at the time, and watching a friend and her family experience such an unimaginable loss affected me deeply.

Then, this past March, my neighbor lost his wife, who worked at one of our schools.

Knowing two is already two too many.

That is why we must continue talking about mental health and su***de prevention. We need to recognize when someone may be struggling, reach people of every age, and make sure our children, families, friends and colleagues know that asking for help is a sign of strength and that support is available.

When I read the proclamation, I carried Nicolas’s memory with me. I even brought a little dinosaur in his honor because he loved them. 🦕💜

For Nicolas, for the loved ones we have lost, and for every family living with this kind of loss, we must keep talking, keep listening and keep looking out for one another.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

📚 Happy to celebrate National Library Card Sign-Up Month at the Okeechobee Boulevard Branch Library with Commissioner Gregg Weiss, Library Director Doug Crane, and Dewey!

As a member of the Palm Beach County Library Advisory Board and a School Board Member, I see how our libraries support students and families every day. They are places to learn, connect, access services, and discover new opportunities.

Commissioner Weiss presented a proclamation recognizing National Library Card Sign-Up Month.

If you don’t have a library card yet, go get one! 📚💙

I was honored to serve as the keynote speaker for Family Impact Palm Beach County’s Boots & Diamonds Gala. ❤️

What I appreciate most about Family Impact is the way they support families at so many different stages, from early literacy and parenting support to after-school programs and helping young people prepare for college, careers and their future.

This work matters because strong families and strong schools go hand in hand. When students have support at home, in school and throughout their community, we create more opportunities for them to succeed.

And the evening was extra special for me because my cousin was visiting from Argentina, and I had not seen him in years. So, of course, I dressed him up as a cowboy 🤠 and brought him along! It was so much fun getting to share a little bit of my community and my work with family from home. ❤️🇦🇷

I am incredibly grateful to Saidy Garzon, the Family Impact team, their Board of Directors, partners, volunteers and supporters for everything they do for families across Palm Beach County and for inviting me to be part of such a special evening.

It is another reminder that we are stronger when we work together. Schools, nonprofits, businesses and community partners each have a role to play in creating opportunities for our children and supporting the families behind them.

📚❤️ And we’re back!

What a great way to kick off the new school year! Superintendent Burke and his team spread out across the District today, and I got to visit three very special schools.

🌟 Westgate Elementary — celebrating an incredible jump from a C to an A!

🦅 Forest Hill High School — starting the year as an A-rated school! Go Falcons!

💙 Melaleuca Elementary — where I wrapped up my school visits for the day.

From kindergarten classrooms to high school hallways, there was lots of first-day energy everywhere! ❤️

Here’s to our students, teachers, staff and families. Let’s make 2026–27 a GREAT year! 🎒✏️📚

🎒✏️ Back-to-school preparation is everywhere! 📚❤️

This past week, schools across our District welcomed families for Meet the Teacher events, backpack and school supply pickups, and lots of excitement for the new school year!

I was happy to make it to two of my elementary schools, Liberty Park and Palm Springs, and see the excitement firsthand. ❤️

It was also wonderful to see community partners at both schools, connecting with parents and providing resources to help our families start the year strong. That partnership makes a difference!

Backpacks are packed, classrooms are ready, and our students are off to a great start! 🌟 We are stronger when we work together. Here’s to a fantastic school year! 🍎📚

A great morning with the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches for its State of Education breakfast!

Superintendent Mike Burke gave a great presentation highlighting the progress, opportunities, and work ahead for our schools.

One of my favorite parts was hearing directly from three of our students as Superintendent Burke interviewed them about their experiences, goals, and perspectives.

Education is about preparing our students for what comes next, college, careers, and a bright future.

Thank you to the Chamber for bringing education and our business community together. We are stronger when we work together! 💙📚
