As we wrap up National Community Development Week 2026, we’re proud to celebrate the projects, partnerships, and people who make community development possible in Palm Beach County. From infrastructure improvements to affordable housing and supportive services, federal programs like CDBG and HOME help us invest in safer, stronger, and more resilient neighborhoods.

This week highlighted the power of collaboration — from new senior housing to park improvements, solar lighting, and essential services that support our most vulnerable residents. National Community Development Week reminds us how federal resources like CDBG and HOME translate into real, local impact.

Thank you to our partner departments, municipalities, housing authorities, and community organizations for your continued collaboration. We appreciate everyone who contributes to this work and helps strengthen our communities year‑round. Together, we’re building opportunities and improving quality of life for residents across Palm Beach County.

As we continue celebrating National Community Development Week 2026, Housing and Economic Development staff visited Autumn Ridge — a newly completed senior housing community made possible in part through the Federal HOME Program and our partnership with the West Palm Beach Housing Authority. This development expands access to safe, high‑quality, and affordable homes for seniors, supporting residents as they age in place with dignity and stability.

Since 1992, the HOME program has built or rehabilitated nearly 1.4 million affordable homes 🏡 The HOME program is the largest federal block grant to state and local governments, designed exclusively to create affordable housing for low-income households.

Autumn Ridge reflects how federal funding and strong local partnerships can create lasting community impact across Palm Beach County. We’re proud to support projects that strengthen housing opportunities for the residents who need them most.

As we continue celebrating National Community Development Week 2026, we’re proud to highlight two recently completed CDBG funded infrastructure projects: improvements at Ilex Park and the installation of new Lakewood Road Street Lighting.

Completed through strong partnerships with our county municipalities and capital improvements colleagues, these investments enhance safety, accessibility, and overall neighborhood quality of life by leveraging federal grant funding to meet local needs.

These projects reflect our ongoing commitment to building vibrant, resilient communities throughout Palm Beach County. We’re grateful for the collaboration that make these community investments possible.

PBC Department Collaboration 🤝

Today, our Housing & Economic Development Strategic Planning team joined our partners from the Palm Beach County’s Community Services Human Services team to celebrate National Community Development Week 2026.

As we recognize this national initiative, we want to highlight the collaborative work that powers our CDBG programs. Human Services administers the portion of our grant dedicated to homeless services — work that provides stability, dignity, and essential support to residents experiencing housing insecurity.

We’re proud to stand alongside our PBC partner departments and all the organizations committed to strengthening our community. Your dedication is truly appreciated.

Happy National Community Development Week!

Palm Beach County’s Department of Housing & Economic Development is proud to join communities nationwide in celebrating the vital impact of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME programs.

CDBG attracts investment in underserved communities and serve as engines for growth. Every $1.00 of CDBG funding leverages more than double in additional investment, allowing us to:
• Expand affordable housing opportunities
• Improve neighborhood infrastructure
• Strengthen local partnerships
• Improve the quality of life for all residents

Why CD Week Matters
This week, we are highlighting how federal community development programs support our residents and invest in long-term community resilience. From public services to critical neighborhood improvements, these funds help us meet the needs of our County today while building for tomorrow.

Stay tuned!
We’ll be sharing more content all week long to showcase the projects and people making a difference in our community for National Community Development Week!
