Yesterday the Palm Beach County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) was pleased to host Public Information Officers (PIOs) Co-Op made up of agencies and partner organizations across Palm Beach County at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to learn more about OEM, including our mission, organizational structure, and role in coordinating preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts during emergencies and disasters.

Attendees received an overview of EOC operations, OEM programs and services, emergency communication processes, and the critical role Public Information Officers play in supporting coordinated messaging before, during, and after incidents. The session also served as a valuable forum for networking, strengthening interagency relationships, and enhancing information-sharing capabilities among public information professionals throughout the county.

By bringing together PIOs from across our community, we continue to foster collaboration, improve situational awareness, and build a stronger countywide network that can effectively support emergency management operations and public communications during times of crisis.

On June 9th, the Palm Beach County Office of Emergency Management was honored to host representatives from Florida Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (FlaWARN).

FlaWARN is a statewide mutual aid network that helps water and wastewater utilities prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters. Through coordination of personnel, equipment, and resources, FlaWARN assists communities across Florida in restoring critical water and wastewater services following hurricanes, severe weather, and other emergencies.

We were pleased to provide a tour of our Emergency Operations Center and discuss the importance of coordination, preparedness, and mutual aid in supporting disaster response efforts. Strong partnerships between organizations like FlaWARN and emergency management agencies help ensure our communities are better prepared for whatever challenges may come.

As we continue through hurricane season, we encourage residents to stay informed, make a plan, and prepare their emergency supplies. Visit ReadyPBC.com for preparedness information and resources.

Thank you to the FlaWARN team for visiting Palm Beach County and for your continued commitment to serving communities throughout Florida.

On Friday, June 5, Palm Beach County Office of Emergency Management held a final planning meeting in preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Representatives from numerous local, state, federal, and private-sector partner agencies came together to review plans, strengthen coordination, and ensure readiness for this historic event.

While Palm Beach County is not a host city for World Cup matches, our community continues to play a significant role on the international stage. Did you know that when combining the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Palm Beach County has hosted more team base camps than any other county in the United States?

This achievement further demonstrates Palm Beach County's status as a premier destination for international sports. Its world-class facilities, favorable climate, and exceptional amenities continue to attract elite teams from around the world for training and competition.
