Our organization, TCCI (The Children's Coalition, Incorporated), has been collecting veterans’ accounts of their military service since 2005 through our adoption of the Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. This project has proven to be a pathway to not only honor our veterans but it has proven to be a conduit that leads to healing them by giving our vets an avenue to express themselves regarding their military experience. Many of them share memories about some very brutal moments in their lives while serving to protect our country. We have involved many teens in this project since its inception regarding the role we have taken.
We are asking you to attend the WestPalm100 event and keep helping us to make a difference in the lives of veterans and their families.
We have determined that the cost for each interview is $330.00. This cost includes man-hours involving searching out and screening veterans for the interview, paperwork or intake, Audio/Visual log, travel time to and from locations, including residential facilities at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, near the Riviera Beach and West Palm Beach border line, to veterans homes in many cases. Additionally, there are unforeseen costs including equipment repair and upkeep, setup, digital HD shooting, download and burning to disc each interview which subsequently leads to shipping to the destination in Washington DC where the interviews are maintained for posterity at the LOC. A copy is also given to each veteran and their family.
We have 122 interviews listed at the link provided to us by the Library of Congress in Washington DC. You can view the list at the following web site:

From October 2013 to the present we completed (15 Students participated) Interviews with Veterans who served our country honorably. 54 have been completed. The locations where they were completed varied as follows:
TCCI Home office (Palm Beach County)
American Legion in North Miami (Dade County)
Veteran's Homes (Palm Beach County)
Veterans Affairs Medical Center (Palm Beach County). However, we discovered the VAMC services veterans from the (7) seven surrounding counties including Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Okeechobee, Highland, Glades and Hendry.
Due to school and work schedules, we were only enabled to work with 15 students to teach the actual multimedia curriculum. We recruited students from Palm State College, Palm Beach Lakes HS, and Conniston Middle. We presented the project to a total of 495 students, alongside their JROTC Palm Beach County School Board Teachers at Lake Worth High School, Atlantic High School, William T. Dwyer High School and Boca Raton High School. This brings the total served (audience, interviewees, youth interviewers participation) to 564 individuals for this fiscal year.
