The City of West Palm Beach is proud to have been recognized by the Florida Housing Coalition at the 2026 REPAIR Conference as a model for leveraging SHIP funds to develop rental housing for Florida residents.

The recognition highlights Coleman Park Renaissance, a $21.5 million development that provides 43 mixed-income rental apartments and approximately 4,000 square feet of affordable commercial space in the historic Coleman Park neighborhood.

The City contributed $301,500 in SHIP funding and four vacant lots to the project, helping leverage additional support from public, nonprofit, philanthropic, and private-sector partners.

Congratulations to our Housing and Community Development team, Neighborhood Renaissance Inc, and all the partners who helped bring this transformative project to life!

Behind every number is a person, a story, and often, many steps toward stability.💙

For Anthony George, that journey took years. After a severe stroke left him unable to continue working and he began experiencing homelessness, Anthony stayed connected with the City’s Homeless Outreach Team and community partners. Through setbacks, shelter stays, health services, housing applications, and continued outreach, he kept working toward one goal: a place to call home.

On August 13, Anthony moved into Permanent Supportive Housing. 🏠

His story reminds us why consistent outreach matters. In August alone, the City of West Palm Beach’s Community Services Team provided 601 services to 191 individuals, including 376 outreach engagements, and helped 42 individuals experiencing chronic homelessness find housing or shelter through community partnerships.

Not every engagement may lead to an immediate outcome, but each one can be another step forward.

Coleman Park Renaissance is more than an affordable housing development. It is an investment in people, history, and the future of one of West Palm Beach’s most historic neighborhoods.

Rooted in a resident-led vision, this $21.5 million development brings 43 affordable apartments and approximately 4,000 square feet of affordable commercial space to the North Tamarind Avenue corridor. The project creates housing opportunities for families, seniors, individuals with special needs, and other residents affected by rising housing costs.

Made possible through City of West Palm Beach SHIP funding, land contributions, and collaboration among public, private, nonprofit, philanthropic, and community partners, Coleman Park Renaissance demonstrates what can be accomplished when a community works together.

The project reflects the collective efforts of Coleman Park residents and neighborhood leaders; Neighborhood Renaissance, Inc.; The City of West Palm Beach; Palm Beach County; M&T Bank; Wells Fargo; the Lost Tree Foundation; Palm Beach County Housing and Economic Development; U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Developmentt; Florida Housing Finance Corporation; Raymond James; TD; Quantum Foundation; Palm Beach County Housing Authority; Third Federal; and other community stakeholders.

Watch how this community-driven partnership transformed vacant properties into homes, expanded economic opportunity, and helped keep families and legacies rooted in Coleman Park.
