This volunteer role will serve as a bridge between the City and the LGBTQ+ community, helping to foster connection, understanding, and inclusion throughout our community.

Those of us who have the privilege of working alongside Jade know her passion for serving others, building meaningful relationships, and creating opportunities for all residents to thrive. Her leadership is rooted in compassion, authenticity, and a genuine commitment to making our community stronger and more welcoming for everyone.

We are incredibly proud of Jade and excited to see the positive impact she will make in this new role.

As we kick off Pride Month here in our City, we are pleased to announce that Mayor Keith A. James has appointed Jade Greene, Director of Housing and Community Development for the City of West Palm Beach, as the City’s LGBTQ+ Liaison, a volunteer role that serves as a bridge between the City and the LGBTQ+ community.🌈

In Jade's new role as LGBTQ+ Liaison, she will help strengthen communication, build relationships, and ensure residents and organizations are connected with City resources.

“I am honored to serve as the City’s LGBTQ+ Liaison,” said Greene. “I look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside community members to strengthen relationships, advance inclusion, and help ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging in West Palm Beach.”

West Palm Beach has been a leader in LGBTQ+ equality for more than two decades and continues to champion policies and initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity.

“West Palm Beach is committed to being a welcoming and inclusive community where every resident is valued and respected,” said Mayor Keith A. James. “Jade’s leadership, passion for public service, and commitment to building strong community connections make her an excellent choice for this important role. Big gratitude to Charlotte, the incredible 9-year-old behind ! Charlotte chose to use her recent birthday as an opportunity to give back, turning it into a day of kindness and compassion. Using proceeds from her lemonade stand, she and her friends filled backpacks with essentials including blankets, hygiene items, water bottles, hats, sunscreen, and more to support individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.🎒

A special thank you as well to her parents—her father, Bernardo Neto, General Manager The Ben, Autograph Collection, and her mother, Lauren—for supporting and nurturing her generous spirit and helping make this meaningful effort possible. Her thoughtful donation to our department will help our Community Services team continue connecting with and supporting those in need.

Charlotte’s generosity is a beautiful reminder that you are never too young to make a meaningful difference. We are truly inspired by her compassion, selflessness, and the positive impact she is already making in the lives of others.

Last night, our team helped receive a proclamation from Commissioner Warren, on behalf of Mayor Keith A. James, recognizing May 2026 as Mental Health Awareness Month.

May reminds us to pause and prioritize mental well-being. Opening up about stress, emotional health, resilience, and self-care makes a real difference. Simple daily habits like resting, staying active, connecting with others, practicing mindfulness, or asking for support help strengthen our mental health.

The proclamation was accepted by Renee Govig, Chief Human Resources Officer; Leon Pinder, Director of Public Works and Support Services; and our very own Director, Jade Greene. HCD was also recognized for our commitment to Mental Health First Aid training last year.

Thank you to Andy McAusland and his team at Mental Health America of the Palm Beaches for providing the City with Mental Health Action Bracelets. The bracelets feature the messages “Today feels hard” and “I count today as a good day," offering a simple reminder to check in with ourselves and encourage conversations about mental health.

Let’s continue supporting one another and making mental wellness a daily priority. 💚
