🇺🇸 CLOSED TODAY FOR LABOR DAY 🇺🇸

Harbor Humane is CLOSED to the public today, Monday, September 7, as we observe Labor Day.

But while some of our team gets a well-deserved day off, the shelter never gets a day off. 🐾❤️

A special THANK YOU to the dedicated members of our Harbor Humane team who are working today to make sure the animals in our care are fed, comfortable, loved, and cared for. They are here because the animals are counting on them—and we are incredibly grateful. 🐶🐱🐰

And to all the hardworking people in our community, thank you for everything you do to keep our community going. Whether you’re working today or enjoying a well-earned day of rest, we hope you have a safe and happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

We’ll be back open to the public tomorrow (12:30-7pm), Tuesday, September 8, ready to keep doing what we do best—helping people and pets find their way home. 🏡❤️🐾

💕🐾 ANOTHER SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT: WILLOW🐾💕

Some cats need a little extra understanding. Some need a little more peace and quiet. And sweet Willow needs both. ❤️🐱

At 10 years old, Willow is looking for a quiet, calm home where she can feel safe, secure, and loved. She is a sensitive girl who does best when life is peaceful and predictable.

To help Willow be as happy and successful as possible, we are recommending that she be the only animal in the home. No other cats. No dogs. Just Willow and her people. 🥰

We also want her next family to understand that Willow has a history of inappropriate litterbox use, particularly during times of stress. A calm environment with fewer changes and stressors will give her the best opportunity to succeed.

What Willow needs isn't complicated. She needs someone willing to give her a little patience, a lot of love, and the peaceful home she deserves. In return, she gets to be your sweet senior companion and spend her golden years knowing she is exactly where she belongs. 💕

Sometimes the best home isn't the busiest one. Sometimes it's simply the quiet one where you can curl up together and enjoy each other's company.

💕🐾 SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT: FLORENCE 🐾💕

Florence deserves more than just a little spotlight today…she deserves a HOME. 🥹❤️

Meet this sweet, snuggly super senior gal who is simply happiest when she’s close to her people.

Florence is incredibly affectionate, always wagging her tail, and she settled into her foster home like she’d been there forever. She even bravely followed her foster family right into an elevator the very first time! 🥰 Talk about a brave girl!

She’s wonderful on leash, gentle when taking treats, loves to sniff and explore, and has a serious appreciation for peanut butter. 🥜

And while Florence absolutely LOVES her cozy bed (who can blame her?!), she’ll happily get up for some pets and follow her people around the house—then settle nearby while they cook, relax, or go about their day.

Florence is now back at the shelter, and we would really, really love to see her back in a home. ❤️

This time, we’re hoping it can be her FOREVER HOME!

She’s sweet. She’s happy. She’s easygoing. And she has SO much love left to give. She doesn’t need anything fancy—just a cozy place to spend her golden years, surrounded by love, naps, peanut butter, and plenty of pets.

❤️ Today is International Day of Charity.

And while the word "charity" often makes us think about giving money, we believe it means something so much bigger.

At Harbor Humane Society, charity is compassion in action.

It looks like giving a homeless pet a second chance.
It looks like opening your home to a foster pet.
It looks like providing food and resources to families who need a little help.
It looks like vaccines and wellness services that help pets stay healthy.
It looks like teaching children to care for and understand animals.
It looks like educating, advocating, volunteering, fostering, sharing, supporting—and sometimes simply being there when someone needs help.

Because our work isn't just about finding homes for animals.

Our mission is to empower the human-animal bond through outreach and advocacy.

We want to help create a community where people and animals can thrive together. Where resources, education and compassion can make the difference between a family having to say goodbye to a beloved pet and being able to stay together.

Every program we offer, every resource we provide, every animal we care for and every person we reach is part of that bigger mission.

So today, on International Day of Charity, we're celebrating the people who make this work possible. The adopters. The fosters. The volunteers. The donors. The advocates. The educators. The community partners. And every person who has ever shared a post, dropped off a donation, offered a helping hand or simply cared.

🚨 ATTENTION, HUMANS. 🚨

Yes, the sign is correct...well, kinda!

I AM ADOPTED.

I was adopted by Harbor Humane a long time ago, and am employed, adored, well cared for, and clearly an essential member of the team.

So NO, you cannot take me home. 😼

But if the staff has enough time to make "employees" hold misleading signs, I think it's time you came in and adopted one of the ACTUAL AVAILABLE cats.

You know... give them SOMETHING to do around here. They need to be kept busy from NOON-5PM!

Come adopt a cat. Make a life-changing decision. Keep the staff busy.

The Dog Days of Summer are coming to an end! ☀️🐶

We’re OPEN regular hours Friday & Saturday
🐾 Friday: 12:30–7 PM
🐾 Saturday: 12–5 PM

We’ll be CLOSED Sunday & Monday for the Labor Day holiday.

We’ll be back Tuesday, September 8th at 12:30pm, ready to help find homes for all the animals still waiting for their forever families. 🏡❤️

Today, we’re giving a BIG shoutout to three amazing young animal lovers! 🐾

These kiddos recently held a lemonade stand and decided to donate their earnings to the animals at Harbor Humane. Their hard work raised over $40 for the shelter!

They also stopped by to visit the kitties and loved getting to spend some time helping the animals they were supporting. We absolutely love seeing the next generation of animal advocates making a difference in their community!

Thank you for turning a little lemonade stand into a whole lot of kindness. We’re so grateful for you! 🍋🐱💛
